Volkswagen jetta's
My wife had a Jetta. All sorts of rattles in the dash, which was surprising because the rest of the car felt really solid. Also, A LOT of people have had trouble with the transmission giving out around 55,000 miles, but I think that was more on the 4-cyl automatic version (not 1.8T or the VR6). Overall, I'd try VW again if I found the right car...
Jettas are nice but they are a pain. I personally wouldn't get one. I have 2 friends that have almost identical cars, both jettas with the 1.8. No mods on either one. One is great the other lives at the dealership. I am not going to say I have heard a lot of bad things but I have heard more bad thing about VW than I have with toyota, honda, nissan or mitsubishi.
I dont know it seems like they are eather really really nice, or just a pain in the ***. I know if i do get one ill spend more time on it then i do with anything trying to keep it up and runing smooth.
I found some great forums 18turbo.com and found out a lot of things i should know before buying. Im looking at another one right now, its an 03 wolfburgs edition with 26k on it. They are asking 15k but im gunna try to knock em down to like 13,5 with a big downpayment.
But i dont know, its my first car so its a big decision. I think i should just wait a little bit and see what els is out there.
but on the otherhand i really want a jetta
