EVO owners that have or would own a 350Z
I wonder whats up with some G35/350Z owners, I mean whenever I'm on the road
many of them try to race me and do flyby's on me....
but to this day I have not had a chance to run a 350Z/G35 on straight wide open road....

350z
I traded my 03 350z for my 05 mr. Had the Z for exactly 2 years. Put a sc on it and car was faster but always something wrong. Belt was always slipping, something rubbing on something. Best thing I ever did was that trade. Evo was faster than the Z when I took the sc off. I wish i would have ran them before I took off sc. Have no problems with evo with vishnu stage 1++.
Well, for ~$7600 you could get this lot:

Add installation on top of that I'd imagine and Nismo rekons you get 325hp. It's the Nismo S2 package, and the gains compared to the same amount spent on an evo is very lame...
I mean and evo equivalent would probably be:
-Cosworth head
-Cosworth cams
-K&N Drop in
-AEM EMS
-ARP studs
Based on fairly expensive and similar parts. I don't have any of them, but from what I've seen you can probably expect a lot more power from the evo.
Which is a shame, really. I rather like the look of the Nissan.

I think it is a little too early to talk about that. Time will tell.

My model is a 2003 Base with 3188 lbs curb weight. Lost 32 lbs for forged rims, lost about 20 lbs for aluminum calipers, lost about 45 lbs for spare removal, lost about 23 lbs for racing battery (Odyssey).
3188-123=3065 lbs.
As of now I pull two cars on the stock Evo 8's when doing a highway roll. And I swear that it is not a lie. Lightness is the key. I still love the Evo, though. When I pay in full the Z, I'm getting myself a grey MR IX and keep it stock. As for the Z, my guess it will see drifting school!

I kept mine fairly stock because the only was to get real power out of it is to go FI which can be anywhere from $7000 to $10000+ when all is said and done. The best part of the vehicle was the looks and the handling. It does underteer to much and needs more grip stock but has good potential. I must say that I have no regrets coming from the Z to the EVO. And I can't wait to buy my Warrtalon/Buschar Package!!!! I just wish that the 10 year mitsu warranty came with lifetime Advans too!
As for the understeer, you have to put wider wheels on it with a lower aspect ratio for it to cook decently. I'm running 255/35/18 F and 265/35/18 B on forged wheels and understeer is not a problem. This setup will not beat an Evo on a closed short circuit, but it helps a LOT.
Well, do not overreact and cause a panic about the Z. It is a very well built, fully japanese made car. The rear axles, as an example, are twice the diameter of the 90's TT RX7, the width is almost identical to a 911 but with longer wheelbase, shorter overall length, andalmost as low.
