Hey I never asked, is that your first bike?
I hate to **** in your cornflakes, however, but the tachometer on the new R6';s shows an indicated 17,500 but really slaps the rev limiter on at 16,200. F1 tech or not, I do not believe the 17,500 is a necessary evil, as you can run down a track with a comfortable over rev range for cornering in the neighborhood of 14k. Aside from that, I've ridden every new bike on the market with the exception of the MV Agusta's, Aprilias and only one Ducati 999 which wasn't even new. If this is your first bike, stick with the 600!!!
Trust me, its the best thing, it has plen ty of power to **** on a TON of cars and other bikes, is extremely well built and all things equal you will never, EVER need more.
I went from a CBR F4i in 2001 to a 2002 ZX12R, biggest mistake I made. I love my F4i and wish I could find it and buy it back if its still alive.
The ZX12r was hard to ride, however it could smoke everything (almost). It ruined me.
MY GSXR1000 which Im still waiting to pick up (damn wrong color scheme came in) is an animal and Im sorry I bought it. I would've gone with a 750, but the price difference and insurance is nill.
Plus the 1000 wheelies in 4th gear really easily especially with my fat a$$ on it.....
GOOD LUCK! I was planning a cross country ride this summer....passing through LV.
How many people wanna do a "Power Tour"?

sweet bike! it's nice to see the gp tech come so quickly to "street bikes". radial mount calipers, usd front forks and that red line! please, please be careful on that thing on the street. even a 600 now is doing 120+ in the quarter, very easy to get into big trouble in a hurry.
sign up for some track days at local tracks and really have some safe fun. when i started roadracing bikes, i quit riding on the street (mainly cause i race prepped my bikes and later superbiked 'em) but street riding just was'nt fun any more.
good luck man and keep the rubber side down

Thanks guys. Yea i was aware of the false claim on the redline. Who cares is what i said lol. It is my first bike and i think a 600 is a all around good bike. I am taking it slow riding around the neighborhood and stuff. I just finally brought it to work yesterday but i stayed off the freeway and just took surface streets. I like the moto gp style exhaust and the slipper clutch feels really good. I used to ride quads and dirtbikes so im not to new but it is alot different out on the street.
As far as track days go I'd like to do that probably when i feel like i am more well rounded on the bike. I am taking a MSF course in a week. So that should help!

evilevovegas heres a shot of the pipe. i have the righ midfairing still off due to slider installation so the front of the bike looks ghetto now. ill get a pic of it once i have time to get that right slider on and the plastic back on.
Sweet 6 man, very nice. I'm tryin to find one myself to replace my 04 R6.
Yes, the MSC's are awesome. I took the advanced course. Only difference between beginers and advanced are(at least here in WA);
- Beginers and 1 1/2 days classroom 1 1/2 on the course, while advanced is 6 hours one day all course
- and in the advanced you use you own bike.
When I did mine we had 8 people on a beautiful saturday afternoon. Me, an F4I and 6 harleys lol. I took mine in the middle of summer so it was cookin and you have to have your gear on at all times. Oh well.
Also, don't know bout other states, but here in WA if you pass the MSC you do not have to take the drive test at the DOL, you get a waiver to just walk in and get your endorsement in 5 minutes
