Check out this link guys, I wonder why its rated at 293HP now instead of 300.

Why is it at 293?

Must be because the wing is gone.

 

from what i have hurd ALL STI are 293. 300 just was a round up number.

What was the 300hp rating before? Just seems like Subaru marketing would like 300hp a lot more than 293...

 

I think it looks really good...the new face is growing on me.

 

That was before the automotive industry (or part of it) started using the SAE rating. It is the new standard, so soon all manufactors will be using the rating.

 

No big surprise, I always knew the STi/STI and EVO VIII made more similiar power.

The old rating system did not require certain accessories to be powered (notably power steering pumps), nor did it require the real exhaust system to be intact. The changes resulted in a lot of smaller motors losing a few hp off the rating; the bigger motors were not affected.

 

A.P.S. Dynoed an 05' Sti to the "Flywheel" and made 311hp bone stock.
