do I really need to pay for this???!!

Hey guyz, I need some advice from u. Can some of u help me out please.
Here is my Mercedes Benz G500 situation right now.( I know this is not an evo but at least I'm a evo owner and never go to MB forums)
I was bring the car in some wheel shop last month.
my wheel need to be replace, anyway that not the point.
my car was sitting there for 2 weeks and then the owner call me and notice me about my car cannot turn into forward gear.
So they toll it to MB dealer down the street.
this is the correction that on the recieve.

concern: guest request to check and advise on vehicle will not move when in gear check and advise.
cause: Fautly motor
correction: replace faulty transfer case motor
tech notes: found that vehcile was stuck in high gear and would not move when put into drive. Performed short test and found that transfer case motor was causing car to stay in high gear. Tried to relearn transfer case motor and motor would not move. Repalaced transfer case motor and relearned motor position and vehicle would move when put back into gear. test drove and no further problems found.

parts # mbn 463 540 00 88

I very confuse right now. Because the owner of the shop they want me to pay for this, which is $700.
From ur experien what is causing it? does it happen because the tranfer case is just wear out by time.
Or this situation is happen becuase someone been driving it hard.
I just notice that my car has about 100miles over when I took it in.
and the dealer is just down the street but I didn't have them sign anything about mileages so there is no prove.

man, do I really need to pay for this thing?
just wanna hear something from some one experience , I'm very nervous right now

thank you very much

i would say yes, it might of just been a coincidence that the transfer case gave away after they recieved the car, but it shouldnt have that much miles on it, even if the dealership is trying to find out whats wrong, and then testing to see if its better.
100 miles is rediculous

Get lawyer and report to Police. This shop is trying to scam you!!!

There is no way you need to spend 2 weeks for a wheel change!

There is no way a wheel change need to drive up to 100 miles.

There is no way they fixed your car before even telling you!

Either you looked like a dumba$$ they wanna scam or this shop $ucked bad.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP and get some lawyer !!!

They're scamming you.
It's illegal to perform a repair without first informing you and obtaining your consent. If they don't let you have your vehicle back after you pay for the wheel replacement, then call the police, file a police report, and get a lawyer.

It's possible the transfer case actuator went bad while the wheel shop was tooling around in your MB. If it was really replaced, then you should ask them for the receipt from the dealership and for the bad part, which is fully within your rights to have back.

yes they gave me the receipt.
I already call service manager,I think they are reall replacing it. but I know that dealer and this wheel shop do business together.

so after all, when I go pick up my car, what should I do?
I don't want to hurt anybody, u know.

I just want to make sure that this problem happen because of me and my car , not from some stupid guy that drive my car real hard and broke it.
