so much talk about evos getting owned.....
I really don't know. Despite owning a wrx, I'd like to say that there has never been an STi better than the evo other than the extremely rare and mega expensive 22B.
Not version 1,2 , 3,4,5 ,6 or 7.
But, the value proposition for Subaru has certainly increased.
Forged wheels (Broeli-I like to see you post about evos being better on NASIOC right now), DCCD, notchy and difficult to shift into first gear 6-speed trans, closer ratios, front LSD, 2.5 L sodium valved, forged pistons and rods and ball-bearing turbocharger.
I say that the fact that Subaru is almost giving away the STi shows that they will not lie down without a fight and let
trample over them. In fact, as I have always said before, they want to make sure that they do not repeat the mistake of being inferior like before. hence the engineering and resources that go into making the USDM STi......you think Subaru doesn't know how much money they lost replacing 02 wrx trans?
You know, most of the time, they just replace the darn thing and not repair it. Come on,
let's see if you guys wanna play. Subaru has made a statement....the ball's in your court.

I am not badgering subaru by this...casue I like their cars, but...I bought the evo for several reasons....1. I love mitsubishi..period. 2. The subaru styling is drab and needs to be redone from the ground up...not that I don't like the evo 6...cause in terms of styling it is one of my favorite...but the sti has too much boy racer in it like the evo 6 did...it's past it's time..time to grow up. The wing is massive and looks unstable from when I saw it at the auto show....not to mention the redneck hood scoop(just my opinion)...the trademark blue is just hidious too! 3. Subaru knew mitsu was going to bring the evo over w/o the diffs and AYC. Subaru also knew that mitsu was going to have to do some mods to the ecu to make it US compatiable...my guess is subaru knew that in order to beat the evo in the US market they would have to redo the engine totally...otherwise they would fall behind..like usual!(I'm not biased...NAH!) Yes the car(STI) has more...yes it is a good deal....yes subaru is probably losing their *** on this car due to mitsu prcing the car(evo) under 30 grand. My guess is mitsu will counter...with what I don't know....but...considering what the evo has comapred to the STI....the EVO in my book wins, do to it doing almost as much with much much less.(6speed[waste]....diffs,bigger engine, and so on)....you know the shpeal...anyway....again I am not knocking suby(ok...ok..I am a little)...but, it is a great car and I will drive one soon....just to see what it's like....but to all that just think the STI is gonna smear the evo....get a life...and quit strokin your ego...!

Although I am referring to the JDM Spec models here.
..and all this so called talk on NASIOC about evos getting "owned" is more about how the STI appears to be better value for money, on paper at least. In reality this might not be the case, but we'll have to wait another a month or two before this becomes a real debate.
Come on guys, both are great cars. Much respect with the STi and the EVO. Put this two on the track and will probably be more of driver skill than the car itself. Just be happy, EVO and STi can spank 99% of the cars on the road stock. Now, let's all have a
