"You paid for 300 horses........lol

Anyone else get a kick out of the old Quaker State commercial with the STI?

"You paid for 300 horses,, are you sure your getting them".....lol

Yes they are still running that ad on tv..... And even still in all the car magazines.

Even thou the STI is re-rated at 293hp and 290 tq.

I can just picture all the STi owners jumping up and down crying,,,,,, NO NO NO I dont have 300 horses,,, and YES I PAID FOR THEM!!!!!!!!

How much longer can they advertise 300 horses and 300 tq,,, even after they have re-rated the STI's at 293hp and 290tq?

Funny,, yet interesting....

They de-rated it because of the SAE's new HP rating method. The car makes the same power. So no, I don't get the same kick out of it as you.

hummmm,,, same power?

Last I know of 300 > 293........ So maybe if they said you paid for 293 hp are you sure your getting them. Or advertise 293hp and 290 tq.......

Not continue with the 300 hp and 300 tq.
Which are nice round numbers that makes one feel good.

So Stevie when you say the car makes the same power,,,,,, They could have been selling the STI at 375hp,,,,,,,,, I mean its makes the same power now dosnt it ????

375 = 293...... Yea same thing, I see where your coming from.....lololol

Dude, the new SAE horsepower rating method bumps the STi power down to 293hp & 293tq but it DOES NOT mean there is a power loss. It's just the new rating method that Subaru has to do, so it shows the new horsepower values as less. They're just changing the damn numbers man, not the engine to make less power.... If you're still confused about this you should go read up on it.

It amuses me too.

So which stock engine makes more power - STI or EVO? Seems like the EVO's power rating goes up every year and now the STI goes down. Interesting...

Pretty sure it's been established that the Evo IX's are putting about 10-15 more whp than the STI's.

OMG..........

I get the new SAE standards revised the hp to 293....... yea.

They are still advertising the fricking sti at 300/300!!!!!! Go look at any new car magazine.

And the Quaker state commercial says,,,,,, you PAID for 300 horses,, are you sure your getting them!!!!!

Well no your not your getting 293hp,,,, not 300hp..
So it is kinda a goof on subaru from quaker state........No your not getting what you paid for. And I think it is kinda Ironic and funny.

How hard is that to get?

Nevermind you dumbasses.

that commercial has been around forever, back when the STi was rated at 300hp.

I don't think this is a rip on Subaru at all.

Even if the car is making the same power, this means it was over rated. Some manufacturers were overating their cars (honda, toyo) and some were underrating them (Chevy etc).
