Just got our new Ariel Atom going. Its a Honda K20 (newer R version) version with Hondata, etc. for 245 crank horsepower. Saturday took it down Mines Rd. Livermore to Mt. Hamilton and then to San Jose for exotic car show (most popular car there except for an Enzo ) then along the hills to Alice's resturant and Half Moon Bay. Then Sunday went to SCCA autocross (just watching this time) at Candlestick and watched ChrisW fly with his Evo. Its my son's car - I just get to drive it once in a while and ride in it but its sure fun . Getting it ready now for some track days in July.

Will do Justin; My car with Stage 3 GT 3076 is almost done out at Larrys and I'll be calling to set an appointment for tuning any day; just need to finish the alky tank and fuel cell install and it will be ready.

lznk41;
If you equip them well you will have between $50 & $60k in one before you are out the door. They are being made in USA by Brammo- remember the Ultima- up in Oregon. Nearly all of the new ones use the GM engine (Ecotec) but we wanted the Honda. May add the supercharger in the future, with the Hondata it is easy to tune for it; there is a big debate on the Atom forums in England over the benefits of the extra power - what with the thing weighing 1100-1200 lbs. We kinda figure you can't have too much power so later may add it. It has the Alcon front brake upgrade BTW. And yes it is an absolute blast and generates tons of attention. I'm trying to arrange for clients of mine to get a chance to run it at one autocross free per each transaction they do

fusionchicken; Registration is complicated since we are in California but he is working on it; has a temporary now. It is very comfortable to not wear a helmet for cruising around town and driving below about 45 mph. For the freeways or canyon roads the helmet helps prevent your face from feeling like its being peeled off (check out the great video on top gear for proof) and helps keep bugs out of your teeth, since you have a constant smile On the freeway it cruises along at 70-80 with the fast lane traffic very nicely; there is some buffeting of the helmet but you get used to it. The seat has no upholstry but is extremely form fitting and comfortable so that really is not an issue. Its surprisingly nice to ride in, except for the fear it invokes when driven hard
