i would think it would have to be something rather extreme.

Hmm, according to the news reports, he was going thru a slight corner with a small incline at 100mph which leads me to believe that the car either understeered (weight transfer from front to rear causing front tires to loose traction) or the corner was off-camber and with the small include could've caused the car to loose lateral traction. But that's just me... :P
