I went to look at a used 06 wrx tr today. It had 13k and the owner drove the **** out of it and brought it back for a STI. They wanted 23900 for the car
. Then the dealer tried to tell me and my friend that I was put a boost controller on it and make it 375hp and 370trq. I had to leave from laughing. Any thoughts on this, oh and the car new is worth 22900.
Actually I am the friend who was with him. Unfortunately this is a true story. I stared at the salesman in shock as he proceded to tell us the wrx would be faster than our Evos. He also made some comments about our clutches not lasting more than a couple thousand miles. I told him that he obviously cant drive and we left.

Saleguys 99.999% of the time suck...great example of suckage. I hate salesguys.
Most of the time, you will know more about the car you are looking at than they do. Which, IMO, is ridiculous - they should be the expert on their product. Its no different than any other product.
Ok, rant off.
Have you tryed Autotrader or looking on the subie forums? Might find a decent WRX there.

Yeah, I'd check the subie forums for sure.
I hate dealerships. Although I've had a cool salesperson or two, not a single salesperson has ever been knowledgable about the vehicle I was looking at. Ever. It's absurd.

I hate car salesmen too.....I went to a Subaru dealership just to look at and sit in a new STI for the first time. The salesman talking to me was a complete tool. I know very little about the STI but I know he was a tool. Only thing I remembered about the STI was the reinforced A B & C pillars.....he said the car could flip on its roof and support itself no problem without buckling......

I hate when people flat out lie to me. I drive a TSi daily and had this guy come up to me and tell me his kid has one that's running 6's. Well, they have two. The Talon is in the low 6's and the Laser is in the mid-6's.

I now know that I hate dealerships even more than I once did. I honestly still cant believe that he would tell me about the wrx. We also took our travels to a dealership in Scottsdale (the only one there) and spoke to someone about STI's. The lady we spoke to informed us that even if the Mitsubishi dealership thinks that you have raced your evo that they will void the warrenty. She as well had zero knoweldge of the car she was trying to sell. Her best line was when she asked us what evo stands for...we both looked at her with the dear in the head light stare. She told us in means evo, but subaru means u r a bus....subaru backwards.....Thats her selling point. I think I ll stay with the evo.
Same here. whent to try the STI and EVO to see wich was better (for me). The guy at the Mitsu dealer was a toll, He started with you know the evo is alot faster and BLAH BLAH. Whent to the Suby dealer and he just said, both are great cars just buy the one you like the most. and I did.

But yeah, sales people are idiots. I had one tell me back in 1998 that I should trade my LT1 Camaro in for a new V6 model because the new V6 was making 275 hp.
I called him on it and he "stuck to his story." I just rolled my eyes, said, "whatever," and walked away. It's absurd that these people don't have any clue of the product they are selling. Someone mentioned about the STi supporting itself on the roof, and that's the only thing that his sales person was right about. The pillars are extremely strong, and in fact, the "Jaws of Life" won't even cut through them. They're like 8 layers thick.
the honda dealership once told me that civics were the best to mod becauses you can buy aluminum wings from your local advance auto or folgers cans from grocery stores for a reasonable price

I work P/T at an Advance Auto. We don't sell aluminum rear wings, but we can order them!It never ceases to amaze me how many ricers come in to buy APC (Always Producing Crap) products. This one kid came in with stickers all over his car and a buddy of mine said to him, "So are the stickers for your sponsors or for horsepower?" The kid replied to him, "A little bit of both."
