Lol, I'm not to worried about opinions as of this point, EVO owners dont think much of the RA anyway

I just want something better to drive, more stable in the extreme weather, and something that actually has aftermarket parts if I do mod it.

Try the WRX. Yea sure we bash on the STi drivers but it's all in good fun. I would take a WRX over a SRT-4 or Mazdaspeed 3 any day of the week.

DO NOT go the S4 route unless you can purchase it new.
S4 will bring you troubles in terms of EVERYTHING.... and it WILL BE expensive as hell to fix.
Trust me, I know my S4s

WRX would be the best bang for the buck consider you live in the area that snows during winter season.

Good luck on it, just to let you know the only thing that different from a WRX and STI is of course all the goodies like turbo, suspension but most important of all:

WRX - shlts breaks often (as commented by the techs that work at subaru dealerships)
STI - hardly ever breaks unless you really want it to.

I'm not sure that I want to move to a car that breaks all the time. How is the STI that much better in terms of quality.

A WRX is not a bad idea as long as you don't mod it much. Once you start with the mods then assume you are driving an AWD with the most unreliable tranny in the market

Look for a clean GSX Eclipse(97-99)

Are the problem parts upgradable or is it not even worth it?
