I'd argue that one... Still they are bad *** cars, but your comment seemed a little un-needed in my opinion. Stock for stock it's a close race with a MR or 05 model (Are there even any stock GNXs left???).

1987 Buick Grand National GNX (On the average, some are faster, some are slower)
0-60- 5.0 Seconds
1/4 Mile- 13.4 Seconds
1/4 Mile Trap Speed- 104.3MPH

2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR (On the average, some are faster, some are slower)
0-60- 4.6 Seconds
1/4 Mile- 13.2 Seconds
1/4 Mile Trap Speed- 104.3MPH

I don't believe that GN are faster then Evos' stock for stock. My manager has one and he takes it to the track alot in the summer. After putting 10g's into the car he only managed a 12.5 He only has 30,000 original miles on the car. Anyways I really don't like to get into it, but I believe that Evo is a faster car and much better looking car.

The GNX is a nice ride but what I realy liked back then was the 1989 Trans Am Indy 500 pace car with the GNX motor. I remember them going 11's with just bolt on's . I still would not trade my Evo for it though.

i have a video of one pushing almost 1100 WHP. IT literally jumps also, and gets so much torque the tires start smoking on the dyno. Had dual turbos sticking out of the hood. I will post it up when i get home, its INSANE

All hail the GN. A sleeper was born unto man in the '80s, and in its fruitful and glorious life only experience has it gained. Cursed is the Evo who unknowingly tests the GN.

Someone correct my numbers here as I am quoting from memory, but I think they were "rated" at 260hp at the crank but would do mid 13's stock. Very easy to mod, very robust platform.
No they don't.

The GNX uses a 3.8liter V6 turbo, the Syclone and Typhon uses a 4.3 Vortech engine basicly from the GM V8 5.7 liter block but taking 2 cylinders. Also the Syclone and Typhon uses a AWD sytem and the tranny of the Corvette C4 90's(300hp rated), the GNX's are RWD.

Three is 2 GNX'S here at DMAFB for sale at the lemon lot. One of the guys takes it to the track all the times but his tranny can't handle the power no more, too much power for the tranny and he does not want to spend the $3000 to bullet proof his car.

I know of another guy running a 12.9 here in Tucson with slicks and MBC. This cars are very impresive, it was a response from GM to fight against hot imports and they did a heck of a job for a 1984-85. There was another previous model Buick regalt T type very sleeper but also turbo and they were made back in 1979...

You could argue that now in 2005. In case you didn't notice this was posted around May of 2003. MR out in the US back then? Btw Car and Driver tested 4.7 secs 0-60 mph for the GNX. There are still a few stock ones left out there but will cost major $$$ to buy.
