Fact: Modded Buick GN-X is FAST AS HELL.

Got on the freeway with a REAL Buick GN-X today..

This car is absolutely SICK.
My advice is to avoid any GN-X that you run in too, especially one with mods..

I talked to the owners friend tonight, and he said the car is pushing 400 HP if not more..

It made for a pretty ****ty on ramp experience let me tell ya..

When he hit it, it looked like the car was going to jump out of its shell and blast off!

( remember in Fast/Furious when that Musccle car punched it and literally JUMPED in the air then hooked up?? Thats what this car did at 60!!! )

I hung on but, after a second or too, he started leaving me FAST..

Note to self: Stock EVO is fast, but a GN-X is pure SICK FAST..Leave them alone...

I saw one on EBay this year that sold for 55,000. Those cars are crazy fast. Ugly but fast.

Regular Grand Nationals are fairly common and are also a very quick car.

Duh.

Local one is running 8.43 seconds in the 1/4, yet he can still dial down the boost to drive it to cruise night on street tires. they don't corner worth a damn but in a straight line they will smoke you. Plus most of the ones left have been pretty well modified...

Even in stock form, those things would beat a stock EVO8 in a straight line.

My neighbor has one. Mostly stock it runs low 13's. He picked on me once before I turbo'd my GS. He wouldn't run me after. I remember lining up next to one at a T&T and when the lights went all I saw out of my side windows was his front wheels - at eye level. Damn fast cars.

My cobra mustang (modified with bolt-on's) dyno's at 420 to the rear wheels (roughly 500 at the crank)..... on a roll, i can drive away from just about anything...

Most races are from a roll which is not good for the evo at all....

Humbling experience for sure..
Not that I want to own a quarter mile beast or anyhting, which our EVO is not.

I just couldn't believe how fast this son of a ***** took off!

Found out he has ALL KINDS of **** done to it..
Larger turbo, runs race gas, engine computer tuning, etc.

Good for him.

Grand Nationals are sweeet and fast too. I saw one last night racing a Mustang pretty close but at the end the GN-X won by more than a hood length!

GNXs rock. They're like our older brothers, or maybe our uncles or something. Their motto, "fast with class" has kinda been adopted by the DSM guys who refuse to ever let a piece of duct tape touch their cars. I suspect the EVOs, being so closely related and also adopted by many DSMers, will likely follow suit. Make your car fast as you want, but do it clean for Pete's sake.

The GNX I believe was a limited production upgrade (suspension and trim, but no extra HP I think) from the Grand National. They use the same venerable turbo V6 that the Syclone and Typhoon use (all wheel drive S-10 blazer body and S-10 truck body respectively). These things are MAD fast. Someone correct my numbers here as I am quoting from memory, but I think they were "rated" at 260hp at the crank but would do mid 13's stock. Very easy to mod, very robust platform.
