Just don't underestimate them. There are some seriously beastly 300ZX's out there.

Sounds it. I will probably never find any real need for that type of power.

You will lose that respect by owning one. They are heavy, slow, and difficult to work on. There is a reason you see 9 second Supras and RX7s but no 300zx's. I raced many 300zx's with my 94 FD rx7 (heavy mods), and never found one to even come close to keeping up. I always used to say that Supras made insane power but lacked on looks and handling, RX7's blew motors but looked awesome and were probably one of the best handling cars ever built. 300zx's did nothing good, and thats all I would say The only worse Jap supercar was the 3000gt, which is a worthless POS.

i always love the z32; the way they look, the v6tt. but i dont like the moving rear wheels - makes them a b*tch to launch. and once i saw the engine bay of a twin turbo i decided to pass on the car.

to this day i still have nightmares about working on my mr2 turbo's engine, but the z32's look even more cramped...

That's why the 300ZX always did well in the magazine comparison tests. It didn't excel in anything but did well in all aspects. The RX7 and Supra were more of pure sportscars whereas the 300ZX and 3000GT were more along the lines of a GT vehicle.

300zx are dope, they are not that expensive anymore and the parts can be had for cheap. My cousin had one for about two years and with tbe and a chip, it would pull half a car on my 05 evo when it was stock and blow by me when I hit fifth. My cousin got his in mint condition for $9500+$1250 in performance parts=cheap speed with a clean style. To bad some jackhole ran a stop when he was in SF and the car was totaled.

Uh... no. The slowest time I found for a stock 300zx 0-60mph was 6.0 - 1/4 in 14.4. That is in no way slow, no matter what you say. In fact, one test rated it at 5.2 / 13.8.

By the way, while there may be 9 second Supra's and RX7's, there are still some 10-11 second 300ZX's. That's plenty fast.

RX7's are great, but as you said, unreliable. My car is unreliable too, and it is also one of the best handling cars built.

3000GT's are heavy and alot different than those cars, though, man. I don't think they should be compared.

300's were pretty good cars in their day. They dominated their class in road racing so much that they were eventually banned from the circuit. Check out twinturbo.net for any information on the 300 and you will find a ton of stuff.

there's a guy here with lots of mods on his 300z and the best he did was 12 flat.
not impressive at all....

The 300zx doesn't have the suspension geometry for drag racing. It is more of a road course, freeway runner. But here is some food for thought, http://splparts.com/Events/SAR0505/default.htm

There are 9 second street 300ZX's as well, there have been 10 second Zs on STOCK turbos. The only real advantage the TT Supra has on the TT 300ZX is slightly bigger stock injectors/turbos. Other then that they respond near equal to mods and have about the same potential. The stock bottom end in the Z is good for near 700WHP.

Ok, that's good to know then. I hadn't heard that before, but I always knew that they had plenty of potential.
