Wow this is the first time Ive seen an Airforce guy/gal cuss. Ive only seen cougars in 350zs around here. But as a cougar-mobile Nissan needs to address its back seat to better serve its cutomer base.

That is a nice touch. I like the Evos wheel better and wish its gauges were bigger and more readable, but I've since gotten used to it and don't notice it much anymore. I hate cars with too many butttons and overly complex HVAC controls. Mitsus classic three knob/dial system is perfect and I hope it never changes. I prefer a DIN style radio because that is one of the first things I want to change.

I'm with you on that. I can't stand cars with these little itsy-bitsy buttons and such. Something like BMW's I-Drive would drive me absolutely nuts. IMO, less is better.

I mean, what ever happened to just reaching forward and turning a volume dial on a radio, or even pushing a button on the steering wheel? Now, it seems as if you have to do 3 things to do 1 simple thing. By manually turning a simple dial, you would not only save yourself about 10-15 seconds, but that's 10-15 more seconds that you could be paying attention to driving. A lot can happen in such a short amount of time.

Just give me a dial for the HVAC temperature control, another one for the radio, as few as possible for a 6-disc cd player, a station preset button, and a volume button.

.....And why would anyone need a push-button start feature? Isn't it easier just to insert the ignition key and twist?

thank you, thats what i said. its everyones opinion. i personally dont care what the test show. i test drove both and to me the Z doesn't compare. i really don't think the interior is all that bad in our cars. we have a momo steering wheel and recaro seats which are hard to come by in a stock car for 30K. most cars nowadays are all cheap plastic in the interior. if people want a nice interior get a volvo, bmw, audi. etc. i have never really cared what the car magazines have said, alot of them have their favorites. i think the evo is the best bang for the buck. let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Exactly. 350Zs don't compare, in terms of performance or handling. Looks are subjective.

You're right, the interiors aren't that bad in the Evos. Everyone talks about how much nicer the STi's/STI's interior is, but it's not. The only difference is that the dash has a much cleaner look. Most of the plastics on the door panels and other parts seem to be of nearly the same material, which is probably coming from the same company.

The benchmark in interiors is the Volkswagen group. The newer VWs and Audis have the highest quality interiors in the business. The interior in my old 2002 GTI 1.8T was well sorted out and had a high quality feel/touch to it.

As for magazines, magazines are nothing more than someone else's "educated" opinion. C&D and R&T both panned the Pontiac G6's interior for its cheapness, yet my parents own a 2006 G6 and I think the interior is nicely put together and doesn't feel cheap to me at all. I feel it definitely exceeds what is normal for GM.

Yes I think it was concluded YOU'RE Evo was a Lemon, and was the biggest POS that YOU have ever owned.

(sorry, I know this has all been said before)

That is not the experience of most of the owners, unless they beat on the car or choose "DF" mods and wonder why the car is all messed up when they are done with it.

I sat in the Z that and tapped on all of the plastic pieces and actually thought of you're comments about the Z after you got it. "Distinction with out at difference" came to mind. Yes it's all rocket-cockpit-like, and sloooowwwww. To each his own.

It's a drag that your car had so many problems, I'm sorry you got a short straw, but I think that you'll agree that .... you .... (meaning all of us)... can't characterize an entire production run based on the acknowledged "lemon" percentage that ALL manufacturer's deal with, if that was the underlying cause of your problems.

Speaking in generalities, I can't say that Mitsubishi is any better or worse than any other of the big 3 Japanese manufacturers (ehhh ..maybe a tip of the hat to Toyota). They are all pretty close quality-wise higher pricelines not withstanding. (Lexus, Infinity, Acura).

on a broader note, guys (and girls) that "just don't get it", SHOULD go spend their money on nice smooth comfortable sleds that their women dig. I'd hate it if there were as many Evo's on the road as there are Z's or Sub's. I think of it as the import tuner counter-culture (although 4g63 Mirage's warm my heart as well )

too much said ...

In terms of quality of materials and Fit-and-finish I would put Mitsu behind Toyota and Honda easilly. Nissan behind Toyota and Honda as well. Hell I would put Mitsu behind Mazda as well. Mitsu I would classify behind them in cheapness of materials for the interior easilly. Their leather is cheap too and cracks very early in it's life time. Mitsu does beat the **** outa Chevy/GM.

Lexus is #1 in terms of fit and finish IMHO.

I do not believe the quality of any Nissan vehicle to be ahead of any Mitsubishi vehicle.

I have heard of Z's going through transmissions. And there is a pending class action lawsuit about something breaking under the front of the car causing it to spin or turn sharply with deaths involved.

I don't personally like the way the Z looks, but I have always thought G35s were great looking vehicles, but I wouldn't want one because of things I have heard and what I have experienced with used examples. It also makes me less excited about the upcoming GT-R.

and the lack of a back is is a very true statment. but if youre considering a Z you more than likely have more than 1 car. so when people ***** about it not having a back seat, i find it odd because im sure they have another car anyways.
Exactly, so who cares about a nice interior anyway. If i want a nice interior, I'll drive my excursion. I got the evo because its unrefined and raw. I like to hear blow off valves and waste gates opening, and just the whole world just flashing by. Thats why i have the evo.

Well, I already mentioned what I felt about the interiors in an earlier post.

IMO from inside to out, mechanical, electrical and fit and finish: Mitsubishi>Nissan

Scion tC TRD- Gimme a break! TRD turd for the lose! Super cheap interior and hardware, Camry engine. This car is the worst of all on this list.
You're surprised that a car with a 17k MSRP has a cheaply made interior? I owned a tC for about a year and a half before I bought the Evo. The Evo's interior was a serious downgrade to the super cheap tC's

The pricetag that article gave them was with just about every available bell and whistle offered from the factory (fully upgraded suspension, lip kit, 18in wheels, an effective stereo system, and a bunch of other little goodies) as well as a $3000 aftermarket Supercharger available through TRD.

In an ideal world, you wouldn't even compare cars like the 350z, Evo, Bimmers and the like with a Scion. Apples and Oranges.

The Z shouldn't even be on that list. When was the last time you were able to buy a Z for under 30K?? I don't think they even make one in that trim...
