Very nice. The looks of this car will never fade away cause it is well balanced. I miss my 2nd gen gsx. Congrats.

Abner,

The GSX that I have weights 3126lbs with full weight and 1/8 gas tank. Please take a moment and compare the weight of the last few cars that I have/had and ended on the same weight scale at Tucson International Raceway SIR

03 WRX with some weight reduction mods 3042lbs
05 Evo 8 MR 3110lbs with almost no gas and some parts that reduce weight(mini battery ,coilovers, front bumper impact frame, spare tire, floormats)
Honda Civic SI 2180lbs bone stock
98 VW GTI VR6 2626lbs (full weight) low gas
91 GSX 3110lbs (cat back) low gas
95 GSX 3110-26lbs (low gas) bone stock
94 Dodge Stealth R/T TT 3752lbs bone stock except spare tire removed and low gas
91 CRX SI 2090 lbs bone stock and low gas
Evo 9 GSR 3210lbs(low gas, no spare tire)
BMW bike 502lbs empty

Finally the intercooler has the custom piping done. I took the car for a ride and it feels very strong, I am only boosting 16-17psi and I did a couple of passes with the G-tech. G-tech shows 106-107mph and low 13s.

Car is untune. More to follow.

UPDATE: 13 Jan 07

I went to the track with the car completly untuned and running pig rich. I am trapping very close to what a Evo 9 traps on the same track on 91oct with a full tune, MBC, TB,CAI,and LICP.

Lets get the facts in order to make a fair comparisson:

I was running on 91oct
At low boost 16-17psi
Completely untuned

Evo 9s traps on average 107mph on 91octat around 21-22psi at this track(SIR, 3100ft). I managed a 105mph in very unfavorable conditions.

Car is going to the dyno on Monday. I don't like to speculate on the performance so I will wait until the dyno numbers are released.

Please stay tune. Thanks!

Carlos

Per instance, lets compare:

- I ran the Evo 9 (my Evo 9) and ran a 107mph best on 91oct(TB,LICP,flashed,cai,MBC at 23psi)

- Justin also trapped 107mph on his Evo 9 with(tune,header,02 housing,CAI,TB,

- Steve trapped a best of 106mph on a Evo 8 with more mods(cams, tuning and methanol)

All these cars were runing today at the track with me and agaisnt me. My car had boost leaks all over the place and the turbo I am running is nothing more than a Evo 8 turbo that rotates in reverse direction (Evo III turbo AKA big 16G).

I am by no means trying to make myself look better, I am intelligently showing you that a 105mph trap on a GSX is not too far from what you would get on a Evo with similar mods. Right now a full custom tune is what separates me from success.
C6 vettes were doing high 13's and 104-105 and a STI limited edition was running 102mph.

I am hoping to be neck to neck with my fello Evo friends under the same conditions and mods. After all, once matched to the same bolt ons, a GSX is a mirror of a Evo performance wise.

The one thing about me is that I like to change cars a lot. It was always a dream from when I was a kid to built my own little simple bolt on cars here and there.

I do enjoy a lot doing project cars that don't involve a whole lot of messing around. I beleive in realiability issues, it is bad already when you mod a car but if you try to make a full time race car you have to be more commited.

Being in the service I move around every few years, you never know when you are going to PCS(change station) so it is the best of my interest to not get such type of cars(full race cars).

On the other note, a mild modded Eclipse GSX can be easily sold and dismantled/stripped of mods and quickly sold.

I don't have the right job nor I am in the ideal conditions to commit myself to a full race car, instead, I still have a blast buying me a used car every year/2 years and doing some amateur project performance car.

Nice car man.. One of my friends has a 98 GSX that is an absolute freak! It has similar mods to yours-- FP2 cams, Evo III 16G, 3" TBE, o2 housing, ebay intercooler, IC piping, intake, and a SAFC..

On 18 lbs he ran a 7.9 something at almost 90 mph at the local 1/8 mile track.. The other day he put in some 110 and cranked the boost to 25-26 and raced a TT 350Z that put down 360 whp on a DynoDynamics dyno and he got out on it about 2 cars from a roll... Tonight on race gas and ~26 psi, he slightly beat another local who drives a TT 300zx on drag radials from a 20 roll.. The 300zx ran a 7.20 @ 94mph just the other day.. Of course both these races, were done on closed courses during grudge matches at the drag strip.. He walks all over my car from any speed.. He's going to put it on the dyno here in a couple of weeks because we're all interested to see what it's going to put down.. The car runs really good for it's simple mods.. Also, the AFC has only been tuned by him so it's probably not even dialed in all the way..
