Post Project GSX

Hi,

I thought you guys would like to see my project GSX I started last month. Well, the car is a clean GSX, never raced and never modded(except a K&n filter) with only 88k miles. The person that had it before paid $2100 for a full Team ripp"TRP" gearbox rebuilt.

Additionally the car came with a set of Koni adjustable shocks and other extra parts such cross/slotted rotors. Last but not least, this GSX also comes with the factory optioanl rear LSD. Needless to say it was very hard to find a clean GSX now days, I was lucky to find it even in the same town I live(Tucson) , most of them are in the North.

Anyway, I took the car to the dyno(mustang dyno at IAperformance) for a baseline and I was very impressed, it put down 190whp/208tq on a Mustang Dyno with absolutely no mods,(except a K&n filter) remember, this car is rated at only 210hp/214tq to the engine.

I also took the car to the track and it ran 15.4@90 at only 10psi and in elevation(Tucson SIR, 3100 ft).

Last month I order tons of parts:

Full Buschur Racing 3" TB
Evo III turbo(identical in performance to a TD05 16 G from the 05 Evos)
Used Evo 8 Intercooler
680 Precision injectors
255 Walbro fuel pump
272/272 Force Performance cams
Hallman MBC
1gen DSM BOV
custom intercooler piping
DSM link

..and shortly I will get a water/alcohol injection kit.

This is going to be my Biassh car, I will take it to the track and I will keep working on it. I always want it a 2nd Gen Eclipse and I finally got it.

I will keep posting for further updates. Thanks for reading.

Wow, I <3 you, and your taste.

2G eclipses are IMO the nicest and still very good looking cars to this day. Nice project also, I was thinking of it...

Thanks!! The one thing next(already scheduled and prepaid) is a full paint job. Don't worry, it is not going to be by any means a fast and furious fluorescent green paint with stripes. It will be fully painted black.

The clear coat is pealing off from the roof and rear spoiler. I want to get the rear 97-99 rounded spoiler but I am not sure, knowing myself very well, I will mostlikely get the extra wing and have it painted, then I will have it handy and switch it and see which one I like most.

I also have a nice Defi controller with a 60 mm Defi BF imperial(PSI) which is not shown on the pictures. Additionally I purchased a set of 4 Evo rims but I quickly sell them because I am looking forward to get something even lighter.

My next inmidiate mod will be a full custom tune by Dynoflash. I am currently waiting on a Perrrin water kit from Dynoflash, my goal is to have it installed and tuned by the 27th January.

I will definately keep you guys posted as I get more upgrades, I knew many of you still have this second thought of getting a GSX as a second care.. I know you do and that is why I am posting the pictures , not to make you jellaous but to share the joy.

Again, thanks for the compliments.

Carlos

hey carlos my name is matt. you are a better man then me. i just bought a 92 laser rs from ams this past october for my winter car this year.

at first i was in love with this car and i thought of building a purpose built drag car( the parts are cheap compared to the evo). but the little things keep driving me crazy. when it's cold my windows don't work and the tranny sucks i have to shift into second before first ( i know the car is 15 years old.). to me the evo is so much better so i decided to drop all my '07 modding cash into the evo. i'm always on this board at work and at home and i think you always offer an unbiased opinion to other evo owners. good luck with your project and keep the good post's coming. by the way i have a real clean 1g for sale this april.

The intercooler issue is a pioneer thing. I am a member of DSMtalk, DSMforum and DSMtuners and I only seen one single picture of an Evo 8 IC on a 2G DSM. The pic that I seen on a different forum showed a car lifted on a lifter but it was just the picture, there was nothing explaining how, what, why, when where.

My custom IC building was 100% done from scratch, I risked a lot by choosing this intercooler, I truly did not know if the IC was going to fit, but I have fixed mechanical issues to friends with real scratch/trash laying around my garage.

The final picture shows a total exposure of intercooler surface which to me means/represents optimum installation standards. I am paying a guy to custom building me the pipes (aluminium pipes), I also have a 1G DSM from Buschur with the proper flange ready to be welded.

From day one , I had clear idea of what I wanted.

sweet ride. i've had 2 95 TSi AWD's and a TSi FWD and right now i'm working on my 92 GSX (my 4th 1g). it's got a built 2.0, cams, FMIC, fully built tranny, and an 18g that'll soon be swapped for a 20g. i can't wait till it starts up this spring. i blew the old motor on the 18g and has been garaged for 2 years and counting. i love my new IX, but i can't stay away from DSM's. it's like crack.
