2007 Outlander...more power? override DVD player's security setting?

I'm currently in the market for a small SUV and the new Outlander catches my eye. One of my concerns is that it seems underpowered when you compare it to other vehicles in it's class.

I've never owned a SUV, how easy is it to buy aftermarket parts for it? IF I decide to get the Outlander I want to increase it's power and I want to know how cost effective and easy it would be.

My other question is regarding the in Dash DVD player that only plays when the car is in park. Is there a way to override this? I know about the saftey issues, but is there a way around it?

I don't want someone telling me if i want a SUV with more power I should get a SUV with more power....the Outlander is in my current price range and I can afford some aftermarket parts over time.

Thanks in advance

I haven't seen it in the blue-ish grey, but I like the graphite grey. Either that or black.
But I agree, its one nice looking SUV....let's hope Mistu continues the trend with the entire line.

if you get the outlander with the 4G69 in it you can always throw the RRM Turbo kit in it

Yup, since the Outlander shares the same engine as the Ralliart, things such as the UDP and piggyback will work. Turbo will bolt up, but you might need to fab a downpipe and tweak the intercooler piping.

As for the DVD thing, you could probably find the wiring going into the headunit that tells the car whether or not it's in park, then either disconnect it, or connect it to a power wire (whichever a voltmeter tells you to do) and bypass it that way.

thanks for the info.
I decided to get the outlander and it's awesome! I love the touch screen...I better be careful because I'm spending more time playing with that thing that paying attention to the road. hahaha
There are alot of nice features especially considering the price.
Now I just have to save up and make it faster.
