1 month of supra ownership
I must say I was a little nervous about trading my 1 year old car for a 12 year old car with triple the miles but.... Hands down Toyota builds a better product than Mitsubishi. Even for 60,000 miles the stock suspension is tighter than the Evo's when new. I really miss that fast get up the evo had but the top speed and comfort of having an automatic is nice too. One big difference is the amount of attention the Supra gets vs. evo. Before I would get every kid trying to race me and many older people laughing at the wing. The supra seems to command more respect, even had a Viper owner comment on how nice it was. I was also kind of pissed at how bad the resale is on Evo's. Losing almost $9k in 1 year of ownership where as the Supra maintains their value. So bottom line is no regrets and I would definitly reccommend the 93-98 MKVI TT's as a good upgrade to Evo owners!
Must give you a congratulatory remark!
How much did you get the supra for if you don't mind me asking? I was looking at them before the EVO but the price tags were ridiculous for a 10+ year old car...regardless of how the market has blown it's value out of proportion.
Regardless.....
on an awesome car.

well if you bought the EVO to gain respect maybe you bought it for the wrong reasons....if more ppl acctully knew what the EVO was and what is was capable of then you would probly get the same "street cred" as if you owned a Supra.

reason 1.supra community is not NEARLY as technical as evo/dsms are. u'll be hard pressed to find some REAL DIY info even if u search like a maniac. most resource assumes your a real mechanically gifted.
2.supra being so low to the ground, u'll have a tough time working on it anytime (even lower then most lowered evos)
3.oil change is a *****, just research where the oil filter is LOL. toyota definetly didnt consider the DIY guys in mind.
4.you'll be crying for traction. unless u have drag radials or Rcompounds, you'll be fighting for traction once you hit full boost at 4.5k rpms. traction control ur considering? it is so caveman level that it actually hurts you in many situations, most supra guys will simply rip it off (which is very easy to do)
5.no such thing as an easy ecu flash. hks gcc or apex afc is the best bet for fuel control, not the most sophisticated management wouldnt u say? aem is great but u got that kinda cash? go ahead.
6.spool is slow, very laggy (especially w/ auto).... u need a very small single to spool anywhere near the speed of an evo.
7.stock twin turbo life is VERY short compared to most turbos, it has to do w/ the shock the 2nd turbo receives from its sequential setup
8.if u think the suspension is tighter then the evo, ur sadly mistaken. it works well for such a heavy car w/ little roll but then again its same for the evo. now evo will return u massive feedback to give u confidence in the turns. supra is numb, VERY numb.
u know i agree w/ the positive side, supras get WAY more respect then an evo andd insurance is great for the supra. i dont know u personally but i have a haunch u'll be back

I like them but, I just can't bring myself to pay that for a car that is over a decade old.
I used to think I wanted one but, then I realized I just wanted a twin turbo inline six. Now I've got one (TT I-6) and love it. I still think I'd like to build a 2JZ and put it in an IS300.

Supras have more recognition than Evos because they've been around (in the US) longer. The US has seen 3 generations of Supras to just 3 years of Evos. Of course people aren't going to know that much about Evos, unless they are into the car scene. 10 years from now, when we're up to like Evo 12, people will know what we're working with and our cars will have the widespread 'street cred' with which you seem to be so enamored.
None of this is fact, mind you, just my own theory on it...
Im sorry I just dont understand your logic, granted they are a great car. Attract a ton of attention, command respect, so on. Sounds like that Supra is an Ego Boost more than anything, for that my friend you would need alot of Seat time with Dr. Phil explaining your realtionship with your parents.
