Thats cause C5R's and C6R's have dominated GT 1 for how long now. I could care less what they say about us they still haven't figured out how even to do decent electrical wiring in a car since my dads day.

I totally agree with you about the Brittish bias!! Remember though, they're driving Porsche, Ferrarri, etc... everyday on that show. The quality of worksmanship just doesn't compare with those vehicles.
But that show is so frickin funny.
Did you see the EVO FQ-320 actually put up a quicker lap with the STIG than the C6?
BTW, I would have killed that pre-pubescent boy if he did that to my car! LOL

I'd say the Brits can't really deny the 'Vette.

 

Thats not a GT500. Its a Mustang GT with a Cervin / Eleanor Body Kit on it. Still funny especially when you see the guy grabbing at the door handle alot.

 

the gt500 is a pretty nice car and all, but man seriously keep your evo. it's burnouts and top end versus handling and acceleration, the choice is yours.

 

Your Evo's hotter looking than a Mustang, probably faster, handles better, will get you around in all weather, will take your friends/family on trips out to dinner etc., and the list keeps going.

The only advantages the Shelby has over the Evo is the ability to go extremely fast for a low dollar, but look at the "entry fee." The other advantage is that it will probably undoubtedly be a collectible, and worth 10x's more than an Evo will ever be worth in the future.

 

The FQ-320 also costs as much as a Corvette does, and still doesnt look anywhere near as good.

 

I guess that's a matter of opinion. I'm not a big Corvette fan, but I love the Z06. I think the Z06 looks lightyears better than a standard Corvette, despite the subtle changes. In the case of the Corvette, less is more. They're both hot looking, but in totally different ways.

 

if u're into stupid straight-line power ONLY, i guess do it.

keep in mind if u keep ur Evo u don't have to take the loss on the trade-in for the gt500, then u an use the money u would have lost if u did the trade in, get a big turbo, and have a car that has 2 more doors, great handling, and good power.

my point if the gt500 can trap 500mph with $5000 in mods, its still 4000lbs, and a 4000lbs car just....disappoints... who knows, maybe u like AMGs, this might suit u then

 

no matter what, if u drop a gt35rl kit, it will be faster than the gt500, w/ lots less spending. plus there aint no mustang handle better than no evo.

Anyway, like the last guy said, if you want stupid-fast straight-line speed, go for the Shelby. At 4000 lbs, they're just like AMGs, as he also mentioned....just a land barge that will haul *** in a straight line. 4000 lb vehicles don't make for good cornering.

 

Some guys at svtperformance weighed their GT500's and without the optional upgraded stereo (Mach 1000?) they were in the 3850 lb range. - still pretty heavy though.

 

Ford will atleast cover stuff under warranty. Mits... well there is no warranty on the Evo. One big plus for the Shelby is its an attention getter from everyone kids to old people love the car. The police were the only ones who like evos. They see the wing and follow you cause they know you must be speeding or just about to.

 

Yeah everyones opinion. The Corvette is a sleek sexy car, and the Zo6 is just a perfect blend of sexy and badass..like that latina chick from Sin City.
