Uhmmm.. I think you should keep the Evo or wait until the Evo X arrives. I don't think you would like to take curves swinging in a 4000 lbs venecian water canal boat.
It has been admitted by multiple sources that the new Shelby GT 500 left many performance gaps to be improved, among them the weight issue(4000lbs) and the mediocre suspension(venecian siwnging water canal boat)

I couldn't do it! I'm not a huge fan of the 05+ interior at all, and the boat feel is very valid. Straightline speed capability is better than anyone expected 9's@140mph have been had on stock blocks, stock ported blower, with a 75 shot.
Bolt ons have netted high 10's with most people seeing 11's@125-127mph on pump for 2k in mods.
Like I said I wouldn't do it.

i just traded my 05 stang for my for my evo 9 and dont regret it 1 bit should of done it sooner! remeber you have awd so wet or dry you are fast mustangs in the wet,,,,, forget about it, you live in south fla like i do and it rains alot . i wouldnt do it plus the shelby weighs 2 tons
but in the end you have to do what makes you happy,,, by th way my stang was paxton supercharged (435whp) it went 12.5's but no traction

On roadcourse, Yes, on the stirp NO!! Go do some research on what people are running stock low 12's@114+. Go spend 2K on bolt ons and your running 11's@125mph, not bad it if it's your cup of tea. Magazines aren't the best for anytype of real data.
o wow... ummm... it's either JDM or Americna Muscle... JDM!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe... come on man you live in FL so you dont hav to worry about snow... but still can the stang take a turn at 140 on the highway... i mena sure you can do a mean burnout.. but still dude... YOU HAVE A EVO... keep it...

As you can see the OP has a modded Evo. Can you imagine what springs, pulley swap and exhaust would do for a Shelby?
Here is the results from Car and Driver's lightning lap:
2006 Mazda MX-5 - 3:29.3
2006 Honda Civic Si - 3:26.5
2006 Volkswagen GTI - 3:25.1
2006 Ford Mustang GT - 3:20.9
2006 Chevy Cobalt SS - 3:20.6
2006 Mazda RX-8 - 3:19.0
2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 - 3:18.2
2006 Mitsubishi EVO MR - 3:13.5
2006 Nissan 350Z Track - 3:12.5
2007 Ford Shelby GT500 - 3:11.0
2006 BMW M6 - 3:10.0
2006 Porsche Cayman S - 3:09.5
2006 Chevy Corvette - 3:09.3
2006 Lotus Elise - 3:09.2
2006 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe - 3:01.6
2006 Chevy Corvette Z06 - 3:01.1
2005 Ford GT - 3:00.7
The GT500 also had ignition problems, so you could probably knock 1 second off that time. An EVO 8 would be even slower compared to the GT500. I'd still go for a 'Vette though - cam & headers + stickier tires equals a wicked car.
