C6 z51 vs Evo (comparison after the switch)
they are if your comparing sports cars... the s4 and m3 are not real sports cars.. compare 2 door 2 seat cars like the s2000, M coupe, porshe cayman s, 911, aston martin, Jaguar etc. If you want a luxurious sports car, buy an aston martin or 911. The c6 (without z51 ) is a direct comparison to the 911 and matches its performance (with much more power) - luxury for 30K less, dont kid yourself thinking your getting similiar performance out of an M3 (which is a luxury sport compact sedan). Not everyone is can fit a 2 seat sport car into their life.
No ones comparing the c6 to a range rover here..so I dont see why we would compare interior appointments of over weight luxury cars to the c6. Your always going to be giving up something... this is why the comparison was even important here, because the evo and vette both are built with the same philosphy in mind on slightly different budgets.
also.. I dont know how one can argue over the looks

I have to totally disagree with this. Maybe because I live in the midwest, but there's tons of Vette's around here. Therefore it's nothing special to see one, and it's usually much older people (ala 50+ overweight males) driving them.
I think that image hurts the car personally. Of course, the Evo has the young foreign racing image to it; so nothing's perfect.

The EVO is like a fat chick - some guys will always say they love the looks of a fat girl. They are certainly in the minority however.
From what I've read, the GTR will have 450hp/360lb-ft. Considering it's AWD, that's probably 380hp/300lb-ft at the wheels. The base LS3 C6 at 450hp/450lb-ft would put about 410rwhp/410lb-ft to the wheels. Being AWD the GTR will probably also be 300+ lbs heavier than the C6. It should be a good race.

I would hold out for the 2008... like mentioned it will have the ls3, however hp is still up in the air.. its likely they will rate the engine lower then its actual output to not **** off the people who just purchased 07s..but its expected the cars going to be around 430-450hp .. you can essential buy the l96 heads and intake combo and you have close to the same thing on the older cars minus other minor revisions. I lost my *** trading in my evo.. you get virtually nothing back for the mods, plus the resell has gone to hell on them...
The zo6 has run 10s stock with nothing but drag radials...and that car is about to be replaced by the corvette SS at the top of the food chain. The SS will be in the 9s with a tune and drag radials.

If a c6 (400hp LS7 v8) cost 30k and a Evo IX (286hp 4G63 i4) cost 30k, you would scoop up the evo still,
"If I put X amount into my car, I can beat your car that cost X amount more."
Doesn't matter, at the end of the day he's still driving a vette and your in the evo. Same goes for these crx's and ek, eg hatches that beat evos for much less than MSRP, at the end of the day, there still in a old 90's hatch and your in a 2006 IX.
P.S. Plus, if you wanna play it fair, dump 10k into the vette and the evo is back to square one.
That's probably the funniest comment I ever heard.

Old ricer mentality.

So, to answer your question, no I wouldn't buy a Corvette it was the same price as an Evo because I simply won't buy a Corvette. Does that make sense?

wait.. firstly the base c6 is already porshe fast.. the z06 kills the 911 turbo and pratically owns the damn carrera GT as well which is um 6x the cost... thats not even mentioning mod potential... 500whp+ with headers, tune, and intake. So basically your saying your not intrested in going fast. I had the same exact mentality towards vettes as you did until I test drove every thing else for the money.. and it was all a step down compared to the evo. The vette is the only step up in performance you can find with out jumping into the 80K range.
I definitely would, because I simply have no interest in driving a Corvette for reasons I've already listed. I have the cash to buy one, but I didn't. There will always be a faster car on the road regardless of what you're running. The Evo, for my needs is fast enough at the moment, and while the Z06 my compare to a Porsche on a track there's no comparison anywhere else.

When I get home from Iraq I might sell a kidney and take the rest of the money I made to out a down payment on a c6 Z06 j/k. I am going to save and try to get one used in a couple of years, thats the only way I would be able to afford one on military pay.
