Porsche 911 Turbo or GT3 RS?
Porsche 911 Turbo or GT3 RS?
Ok guys, Im looking at trading in the Evo for a 997 but which one to go for, since they're both at the same price range in the 120-ish mark, should I go for the Turbo or the GT3 RS? And why?
This is a big question. If you're in it for big power and everyday life, I would go turbo. With the all wheel drive, tons of power, and the luxury items, you would be very pleased. However, if you're looking for a track car, go GT3. Weight reduction, no frills, and huge power from a normally aspirated (and relatively low displacement) engine would be no fun everday, but one hell of a rear wheel drive track car IMHO.
Well, if you want a stellar track car / weekend car, then get the GT3 RS. ESPECIALLY since you have a 335 as a daily driver. The 911 turbo is defenitely more driveable on a regular basis but the chance to own an RS, in my opinion, is much more special than owning a turbo. The turbo is fantastically great, but the RS is just in another world and could potentially be a much more rewarding purchase in the end. Just imagine taking the RS to Infineon...

I agree with the other guys.
Turbo for the DD because it has all the nice luxury stuff.
GT3 for the weekend car/track toy because it gets rid of all the excess weight and soft feel of the luxury stuff
Also, I believe the suspension is more aggressively tuned.

for dd get the tt ftw!! its more car than 99.999 =% of people will ever be able to max out, plus you will have tons of luxury and tons of power, with potential for more power. I know shiv just bought a 996tt and he will have tunign options for that thing soon.
GT3 RS, hands down.
The new TT and the GT3 have been toned down and become much more civilized. Sure, it's great for sales but in a way the cars have lost some of its allure. When I think of Porsche I think of sports car, not luxury GT cruisers. The TT will be faster in the straights, but the RS with the lighter weight and better suspension will be so much more rewarding in the twisties. Besides, you already have a 335i so why get another comfortable car?
Also, 10 years down the road the RS will be worth more since it's more of a collector's car. You'll probably have hard time getting your hands on one though. I'm sure many many people will be willing to pay a lot of markup to get their hands on one.
