Volkswagen R36

It looks like a fun daily driver. Hell, I might trade the SUV in for one of these.

Wow. Sti or Evo performance numbers in a 40,000.00 or more car. Id rather buy a limited edition Sti, with a bullet proof drivetrain.

The R32 was a far better day driver than the STI or the Evo, I was guessing this will be the same just with a little more power. Even if like that the STI limited the fact is that this will be the better car, maybe not faster, but in terms of quatily and features. Who said this car is going to be $40,000? I don't think Volkswagen will price themselves out of the market.

Don't think VW will price themselves out of he market? How much is an R32? How much is a Phaeton? They make plenty of seriously overpriced cars....

You should see the twin turboed R32 from HPA... roughly around 550 at the wheels, single can get near 400 wheel ponies... but resale for an 03 R32 is around around 20 g's

an R32 had a $29,000 MSRP and I don't know what they were thinking with Phaeton, but it was still cheaper than a 745i

True but VW will not and never be within the 745i market...they have Audi for that. So yeah...not sure what they were thinking.

This doesn't make any sense. The MK V R32 is do out(in the U.S.) in a few months. Why would they already announce it successor?

Dude. The r32 was priced around 32k. I have owned an Sti, and I have driven my friends R32.....The Sti was just as easy to drive around, if not more so given the extra torque.

The differences are so nominal that I would rather have the car that has performance numbers to back up its price tag. Now if your talking Rs4 vs Sti then thats WAY different...but diff price tags too

No dude they were 29k. There was a pretty sizable gap between the STI and the R32 in terms of interior and ride quality. I'm not doubting the fact that the R32 will have it's a** handed to it by the STI in just about every performance category. I'm just saying it's a much better environment to be in when you have to deal with traffic and potholes on a daily basis. It really boils down to what you prefer in a car and what it's going to be used for. Since I'm looking for a car that I'll be sitting for 60 miles 405 fwy five days a week, the added comfort of the VW will most likely be my best bet.
