Toyota MRS Spyder

I'm interested in getting a cheap convertible to drive around, and most people suggested the Mazda Miata. However, I drove a MRS Spyder today and it was a really fun car! Honestly I'd love to own a midengine car, and Toyota is certainly within my price range.

Does anybody know of a forum with information on these cars? I tried to search on Google but could only forums with MR2 information, not the newer convertibles. I'd like to know a little more about the car, as in its reliability and modability. I saw that XS Engineering has a turbo kit and such, but it seems like very few shops offer products for the MR-S.

Also, if you own/know somebody who owned one of these cars, please share some input!

horrible problems with them.. My friend owns one... "If you want to buy a guaranteed lemon go for it." This quote comes from a Toyota Technician who I met. My friends has had countless problems.

Thanks for the tip. I went on the forums and looked around. Seems like the precat on the 1zz often fails, causing engine failures.

A 2zz swap will solve that problem, but at that point the car seems a little too expensive.

i had a turbo'd 1zz mrs. i had alot of tech issues. the engine just isn't tough enough for any serious peformance. the 2zz trany is garbage. i say just stay away from em at this point if u plan on modding. if i could redo it all over again i'd prob get a miata and turbo it. or just have saved up for something alot nicer instead.

The only thing that I do not like about the S2k is that it has no torque whatsoever
