That does seem a bit conservative...I drive a 6.1 liter Hemi and it produces 425hp. I know its no comparison to a Vette but that number seems a bit low!

Interesting finding. That would be the perfect link between the regular C6 Z5I LS2 and the C6 Z06. Finally GM engineers and marketing department made a smart decision.

I tell you man, leaving a $25k gap between the regular C6 and the Z06 was never a good idea, it let the MSRP on the Z06 hovering with a extra mark up price of $5000-$10000 in many dealers around the country and also the demand went out of control.

This new 6.2l LS3 will bring the hype and Ego down on thoses mighty Z06s. I am definately glad for the news.

Carlos

The guys on the Corvette forums have been talking about this engine for a while now. 6.2 litres will be pretty much perfect for high horsepower forced induction on that block. And it will haul. Good job GM.

the ls3 will be in the new 08 C6 w/ some kinda vvt, zo6 has the ls7 505hp , and the new corvette (?) ss has the c6r ( i think) engine pushing about 600hp and all carbon fiber panels. the c6 ss should cost about 100k and it was originally called blue devil. i think they are putting the existing ls2 in the 08 camaro, which looks sick by the way.

+1

The first thing I thought of when I saw it, was that it would be great with a big turbo.

its only 420bhp because of the use of a very conservative set of stuby headers.. right now people are already swapping the the ls3 heads and intake over to the ls2.. with headers and a cam they are seeing 460+whp... they could easily knock it up to a 450bhp rating but it would be to close to the Z.
