I would guess high 11s or low 12s... the issue is going to be traction, a local friend has an amazing 640whp G35 covered in multiple mags.. hes got no traction lol
thanks
car weighs around 3150 lbs with a half tank of gas. Carbon fiber seats are going in this week which should save about 25 lbs
haven't gone to the drag strip yet. Just got tuned a couple weeks ago with my new HKS standalone EMS. Then a supercharger bearing went bad and is getting replaced this week.
So I haven't gone to the strip yet, but people with 390whp vortechs have done 12.1's just barely shifting into the bottom of 5th gear as they cross the line. So with slicks and a good launch and the 3.9 final drive I have (stock is 3.5) my car can probably do mid/high 11's or low 12's at a minimum.
I'm not really going for a fast drag car though though. I made the car more to be a well-rounder and more road course oriented

hehe probably
though I've spent a ton of cash on handling and fine tuning how the car transitions through corners. It isn't AWD or anything
I have complete traction from 2nd gear and onward with my R compound tires. Drag radials or slicks would guarantee traction in 1st gear on my car
I think a lot of the traction issues people have with 350Z's is they don't use good enough tires, the 6 speed gear ratios or way too short for huge turbo power and usually the guys with turbo kits have a harder time modulating boost because it comes on so hard and fast that you just don't get much time to react. The vortech supercharger I have comes on more gradual and less sudden so it's a little more forgiving with traction
guys with 100whp less than me are doing low 12's though on street tires, I'd think low 12's at the slowest and worse possible launch, but yeah i'm just guessing since I haven't gone to the strip yet

Looking for an Evo for offroading? What?!
maybe if you have really nice paved dirt, or a million dollars... Otherwise I would go with a slightly cheaper car... or a truck... or at least a salvage wrecked Evo to fix up...
But that is one awesome Z... You'll have to let us know how it is at the road track.

nice car... when my brakes failed my at watkins glen last week my good friend let me drive his built twin turbo 350Z (like 450 pump, who knows what race gas).
So I got a good comparison between the evo and the Z at a race track.... I honestly can't decide which car I liked better on the track. My was easier and safer to drive hard and fast... but all that power the Z had really made it a blast to drive and I'm sure his lap times were quicker even if only due to power.

I'll probably go to the drag strip and do some runs just to see what I'll get, but it'd just be a few times. I'm more interested in auto-x, road course, and (man this sounds FnF) drifting. Just for fun though. I already know I'll never be a pro or semi-pro race car driver so for me there's no point in trying to be competitive with it. I also just like how the car feels out on the street as I make more and more changes.
I kept the stock rev limiter to keep things safe. I used to have the rev limiter set to 7000 rpms via an ECU flash. Now that I'm running more power and more timing, my tuner and I decided to set the rev limiter back to stock
You know, I was really considering a twin turbo kit, and actually had money down on one at a local shop to hold one for me. But at the time, I already had just about every NA mod there was for the Z. Switching to a twin turbo would make me have to ditch a lot of the parts that I hadn't even had on for a year yet. My entire exhaust from the headers back would have to be changed, I'd have to change my final drive all over again, etc. I know I could have sold those parts to help fund the turbo kit, but it's just hard to take a big hit on parts you just bought a year earlier especially when I was pretty much happy with them and liked how the car sounded. A Turbo would completely change the sound with a different exhaust setup
I could go on and on, but when I really sat and thought about it, I knew I wasn't going to go for huge power and also thought my shorter gearing and the vortech would compliment each other (and they do IMO). Anyway, i'm happy with where things are at.
I'm happy to keep this setup for a really long time, but someday when I damage the engine, I'll probably go with the 4.24 liter stroker kit, some more serious headwork, possibly a modified or different transmission, the next higher boost supercharger pulley, rev to 7000 rpms and that'd be more than enough car for me.
My thinking on getting an EVO was not for a few years and then get a used one for driving on dirt trails outside of town. I'd never buy a new one and abuse it like that. But if an EVO can't stand up to some dirt road punishment, let me know. I might consider getting a dune-buggy sorta thing instead

Nice ride brother!
I used to jog by a 350z every morning which is what got me back in the "fun car" market from my Passat. Ended up with the Evo because of 0% financing, but I looked hard at the 350z. Beautiful car, made better by those power numbers.
