Fatality Rates
Fatality Rates
Not sure if anyone has already posted this up but I ran in to this today and thought it was interesting to see. What does everyone else think?

Whoa, the Z is 3rd?!?! Dang.
That's suprising though. It got a 5-star front, 5-star driver, and 4-star passenger crash test rating. On top of that mine has 6 airbags... Maybe most of these are the Base model (no LSD, traction control, etc.).
The lowest fatality rates make sense a bit...they're mostly luxury-ish vehicles that typically don't drive aggressively. That's basically a list of cars I often pass.

Let me be the first to point this out... this is a VERY subjective way of putting crash ratings. I'm assuming they gathered their data from car crashes with MANY different factors (weather, driver, road conditions, etc... etc....). Also the age in relation to the car will inflate the number or deflate it... for example:
Acura RSX being the 2nd unsafe could be because the RSX is a common tuner car that is driven MOSTLY by immature teenagers, hence a high fatality rate.
BMW 7 series being one of the top safe cars is a common car for mature folks who drive responsibly, hence the lower fatality rate.
See my point? So I give that article little to no credibility in determining the safeness of the respective vehicles.
