Not sure (so y'all tell me) but I believe a 600 hp Cobra (built like mine) will be way more reliable than a like-powered Evo.

Flames commence...
I will agree on this one. They may even be similar in reliability. Buddy of mine at work has a 1st Gen eclipse, 2.3 stroker motor running 22 psi. Ran low 12's at the track, but he has to run very large injectors to keep up with the insane fuel supply needed to get alot of power out of 4 cylinders. The end result is terrible fuel economy.

Hmmm... if I'd wanted the Evo I'd have kept it. In my opinion it's a capable car but does not fit my needs.

Besides, I'm tired of every High Schooler reving me.

Have fun w/ your Evo... you obviously appreciate them more than I.

My drive across state (at 80) gave me an astonishing 22 mpg. The first in-town tank is proving to be about half that. I'm not surprised given it's 60lb injectors...

Were I to track it, I agree - this sum***** will spin it's tires at near triple digit speeds if spurred.

Good thing it came w/ a full roll cage.

Me, either. My last one was an '01 Mustang GT that puked it's motor (twice) within 30K miles.

Since this motor is hand-built and has forged internals I'm a bit more confident of it's reliability.

Huh You must be on the 50% discount, I know a shop, or I am doing everything myself guy because that price is at a 50% discount.

The cheapest way I see it is while still being able to rev to 8k reliably is:

Built block 3K
Built head/cheap cams 2k
Stock intake/tb
3" ebay exhaust .3k
35R turbo kit 3k
AEM...no one has hit 600whp without one 2k with guages/goodies
Clutch 1k for a ACT even though most run 2k-3k clutches
Knock off intercooler with knock off piping .6k most run .8-1k intercoolers
Walbro modified .250 most run Buschur or AMS 1k systems
Methanol kit to support the fuel pump .450k
Injectors .3k
Vp116 to run the number with the subpar parts used.

If you do all of the tuning yourself, instal yourself, and add tax you are over 16k. We are assuming no tranny/TC work is needed.

Buschur can do it for 20k-22k and you know it is done right and will put out over 600whp dynojet!! That would be my choice.

>>>>>>>>>>>>

Compare that to a Cobra like Allen's when he used to run racing Chris's old car (see streetfire for vids fully built 2.3, 35R, VSR etc etc) and being dead even up to 120mph.

Ported blower with 2.8lb upper/ 4 lb lower .8k
Maf, no cat and exhaust, SCT tune, heat exchanger, 75 wet shot 2.75k
Clutch Mcleod or the like .8k

I would take a 700whp EVO over a 700whp Cobra anyday of the week. Once you start adding up how much the big build Cobras cost you are well over 20k too. It's just with bolt on sthe Cobra has a huge head start and the ability to run those huge numbers on pump gas too, but that's just the displacement talking.
