I would buy the GT-R in a flash because it's something different. It might be as fast as the porsche, vette, viper but it's not always about speed. It's about satisfying your desire.

For me, ever since I played it on Gran Turismo, I've been dreaming of owning one.

All of the other cars are great, but there's just something about the GT-R that gets my attention.

Quote: You can't just compare hp to hp.
You also can't compare 2-seaters to something that will carry 4 people and have AWD!
Also everything you mentioned is slated to cost more than the GTR...

In saying that; i'd love to have one, but I'm not enough of a baller. Cause if I bought one, I'd have to put in on the track and I def couldn't afford that!
You can compare hp to hp especially in a drag race, yea and dont even me get started on torque numbers. The bottom line is the gt-r WILL NOT BE THE FASTEST CAR ON THE MARKETS FOR THE $ nor will it have more torque or hp. Nissan counts on guys like you to buy it because its a Skyline just like GM counts on my grandfather to by a Corvette. Also Ive seen a few VERY fast twin turbo 350z's for half the price of a gtr.

I dunno guys its not all about power these days. I'd rather have an RS-4 then an M3 and the M3 is less. I just think the RS-4 would make a better DD then the M3 and I think the same goes with the skyline vs Z06.

the cars a beast , i like nissan, pounded my 350z and it kept on tickin, the intro model will cost 55,000 . they use the same parts on many cars because its a smart thing to do, its hard for a car company to make $$$ without being thrifty.

I think you have got me confused.

I don't want it because it's a 'Skyline'. I would want it because it'll beat a 911 for tons less. Sure a C6 Z06 can do the same thing, but I like the exclusivity, the back seat and the AWD. That's why I'm in an Evo; it's still pretty rare (at least where I live).

And yeah, there are some TT 350z's I've seen great dyno's of. I've also seen a ton of blown engine threads on them. Plus they are a dime-a-dozen. I do like them, and almost got one used as the market is flooded with them. But I wouldn't dump 10-15k aftermarket in it.

I'm also very interested in the aftermarket for the GTR. Curious what it'll do with just an upgraded exhaust and tune!

LOL @ anyone who thinks this car will come within 30 seconds of 7:15 at the ring.

Quote: "And one more thing, word is Motortrend and Autobild as well as several other magazines were present for the time. The information they have on the car is it was a "ringer" boasting over 600hp and was ran by Nissan for all to see. Apparently this superfast GT-R is distinguished by a different camouflage than the rest so be on the look out for it in spy shots. But The 7:15 is official and Nissan will announce it in October.
It might be a 'ringer' with over 600hp in that it won't come straight off the dealer lot like that. But a boost controller can do wonderous things

I have a hard time believing 7:15 too if a Carrera GT was in the 7:30 range. Maybe they had some slicks on the car. Who knows. Either way, it should be a fun car to tune... just look at the bmw 335. Turbos are good

It's all hype until a car is tested 3600lbs and 480hp we'll see what happens when Nissan put's out some hard numbers or one is tested.

It won't be a Z06 or Viper killer, but that isn't it's market either.

I would be interested in buying a GTR, but I won't be rushing to the dealer to pre-order it and I certainly won't be paying any markup for that car.

I believe the new GTR would be a nice ride but I'll wait to see the car in person and get some real-life data before making the jump.

i would be interested in this car but i won't get it until i see some aftermarket performance showing good things with it. from a article i read they are not putting as much as they can into the car they say cause they want to leave it to the customers to do it cause that pretty much what people do with skylines. well can't say for sure on anything yet until it's released but i'll be waiting to hear good things coming from it.

Well.... the NA 3.7L in the G37 coupe makes 330hp IIRC. The twin turbo 3.7L going into the GTR is rumored to be making ~480hp. So that translates into I'd guess roughly 7-10psi of boost (depending on cams, exhaust, etc). I'd say that there's a LOT left on the table

Plus, this is 1.1L bigger than the RB26, 0.7L bigger than the 2JZ. No replacement for displacement. Lastly, Nissan builds motors that can take a beating. SR20s making 500whp on stock bottom ends. RBs making insane amounts of power. Doesn't hurt that Nissan raced turbo VQs in JGTC for a few years.

I think it'll take very well to power increases.
