2008 Nissan GT-R

Hopefully if I get my business opened and all is well, I will be taking one of these badboys home in Spring 2008.

Anyone seriously interested in going to buy or lease one, just curious?

yeah I like the gt-r and all but I just cant see buying a car with 480 hp when the ZO6 are pushing 550hp and both Viper and Vette are coming out with 650hp versions soon. Not to mention the 500 plus hp Shelby KR. The domestics are bringing some serious street heat I must say. Considering a 2jz Supra instead.

You can't just compare hp to hp.
You also can't compare 2-seaters to something that will carry 4 people and have AWD!
Also everything you mentioned is slated to cost more than the GTR...

In saying that; i'd love to have one, but I'm not enough of a baller. Cause if I bought one, I'd have to put in on the track and I def couldn't afford that!

Hmm.. buying an AWD supercar while attempting to open a business? That doesnt exactly sound like a smart thing to do. Also the GTR, might as well have no back seat as its just a small bench, gets poor gas mileage due to the AWD. The 2008 z51 corvette has 435bhp which a head intake combo that is already seeing 500whp na on Pump with a cam and header all while getting 30mpg.This is the car that is direct GTR competition... and it can be had for as little as $45. The GTR EVO (which is the one that will be almost as fast as the Z06) is slated for a 97K price tag...only 3K less then the 650bhp Corvette SS super car that will run 220+mph and low 10 seconds in stock trim.

Other huge disadvantages are the AWD drivetrain loss.. 22% vs 16%. Once moving, AWD is not good for much. In urban area, its great...and the GTR is a supercar for the urban area, but not long open roads that dominate most of the united states.

Its still a nice car, but for those that know all too well the cost of owenership for an evo, I would imagine this is going to be much worse!

As seductive as the new GT-R is, I'd take and R33/34 over it in a heartbeat. But hey, that's just me.

I have to agree on the looks, firstly, this car, is just working of the basic 350z / g35 body... adding a bunch of flared fenders for a new look. The overal dimensions and aerodynamics are not impressive to me at all... its not porshe, and its no corvette, yet the price is right in between the two... but I guess nissan had no choose due to the all the infinity upselling going on here. If it werent for the infinity nameplate, we might be getting a great bang for the buck car.

My cousin is probably gonna get one. I am very jealous, if I had the cash I would be getting one as well. Should be a fantastic performer, also probably a lot of potential with a little aftermarket tweaking. Enjoy and to anyone who is able to get their hands on one of these.

Red face

LETS ALL BUY INTO THE JAPANESE HYPE MACHINE!!!! Nissan has been working night and day to hype this car, they are counting on hype... they leak testing of the car at local trakes, running it next to their factory owned 911 turbo...showing it beating the car. Can no one else see this is all BS? Its just like sony with the PS3! lol So they throw a ringer out a the ring that is far from production to put down some insane time vs stock cars. to cause a big stir.

Is anyone actually silly enough to believe that an overweight AWD car can run with a radical? Have you ever seen the radical vids at the ring? Also the asterics represent the fact that the course was in a shorter configuration when it was run.

I mean, maybe with nissan using such viral advertising, GM should go run the c6r at the ring.

"And one more thing, word is Motortrend and Autobild as well as several other magazines were present for the time. The information they have on the car is it was a "ringer" boasting over 600hp and was ran by Nissan for all to see. Apparently this superfast GT-R is distinguished by a different camouflage than the rest so be on the look out for it in spy shots. But The 7:15 is official and Nissan will announce it in October.
