WOW, the leather didnt even crack, amazing at those miles.

Great car, a lil high on the price but nothing wrong with an Auto, keeps that turbo spooled, don't lift to shift

I wouldnt...It still has the stock Maf? on a single turbo? and its the old greddy fmic cause the ic pipes are blue. Is he still running stock fuel? IF so your playing with a time bomb. I blew up my block doing that.

If he has not upgraded his maf he might not have gotten a higher torque converter. Its the little things that add up.

p.sI have a supra so I know what to look for.

Shocking people still debate between Supras and Evos. Two different cars. Supra is a great straight line choice. ANYONE though that has spent time behind the wheel of one and an Evo though will always favor the Evo for handling and anything to do with turns. Besides the power (obviously), the Supra has a very "Camry" feel to it. The steering is slow in comparison, the car is bigger, I could go on.

Am I saying the Evo is better? No, just that its hard to compare the two.

The Supra is the best car ever, but only the 6 speed.
The automatic Supra is not worth it. You now it by now because you know the price difference.
There is no way to convert to a 6 speed because the modifications cost is insane (tranny tunnel needs to be cut and a biger one installed etc cost goes to 10K with parts).

If you must have a Supra and want it auto, at least get a low mileage one.
But remember the Supra gets over 500 HP with low $s and the Auto tranny only holds 400 HP.

Keep searching, try this two places:

VIP imports
http://www.vipimports.com/

Contact them and tell them how much your willing to pay (I bought my EVO from him, highly recommended)

I bought the car off supraforums and whats with everyone thinking you must own a 6 spd or its crap. Yes the 6 spd getrag trans is almost bullet proof but your going to need a 4-6k clutch to hold anything over 700rwhp. Everyone knows by now that all the fastest supras are autos yet everyone bashes them at the same time. Yeah the stock auto cant handle over 400whp but $2500 invested in the auto and it can take pretty much anything. Boostlogic makes a sick *** auto trans for the supra. I'm actually very happy with my auto.

This is like getting married with a hot old **** star at first u go "OMG she is very hot" but wait a couple of years everything will go down and all efort u put on it is all wasted.

177,000 Miles is a lot for ANY car.

I would pay $22,000 for a Manual Supra with 88,000 miles on it no more.
In real world that supra is worth $14,000 the most considering all things u must do and time etc..............................

the real world is the world were living in right now. This car in this condition was sold for 22k and I think I got a killer deal on it. Everyone cant go over the fact that the car has 177k miles on it, big deal. There are plenty of supras with over 200k running strong. I dont know why I even bother posting trying to defend this purchase I made but I think half of you don't see how taken care of this car was.

If your purchase makes you happy, you have no need to bother defending it. Thats all that matters.

Im not quite sure however, what you expected to happen by opening this discussion up. Your asking a car board full of strong opinions what they think about the purchase, on top of the fact its going to be an Evo (not Supra) biased crowd. Of course your not going to get a pat on the back and a "nice purchase" comment from the majority. My two cents? I dont play the horsepower pissing match, which is why I have a stock (power-wise) Evo and will never look towards a 10+ year old Supra.

And from an engineer, regardless of the mile type and care, a 177,000 mile car has had many cycles of stress and strain placed on it, and it will not feel like a similar car with only 50,000 miles on it. Again if your fine with that, thats all that should matter.

What I meant for REAL WORLD was not market price but the price is really worth, considering all things you muist do to it in order to make it move reliable ans safely.
You asked for opinions Bro.
To be honest I would never ever buy a used performance car and even less an auto transmision, you have no idea on how stressfull that transmission has been through even if the previous owner has been taken good care of it.
Hope the supra lasts at least 2 years more, I just cant deal with paying $22,000 for a car that is so old and will have to deal with very expensive parts when they brake.
Example:
Alternators.
$181.00+ Supra 2004+
$89.99 STI 2007
$90.00 EVo 2006

Good luck with your HOT 1955 year playboy playmate!

Well, I was refering to your original post which asked and quote "you were just curious whatever everyone else thinks".
This was when "you were about to buy it".
So don't say now we say this or that.

Good that you are happy with it, and if you are able to spend 2500 for a tranny, then it might mean that you going all out for it.
If it makes you happy then that is ok.
Supras are great.
