Advice for an RSX
Advice for an RSX
Well, I decided I'm going to buy an RSX. My Evo is going to collect dust for a while (I am trying to keep the miles off of it until I decide what I should do with it).
I am going to gut and definitely mod the RSX, I just can't decide between either a base or a Type S, and between 02-04 and 05-06.
This is going to be my daily-driver/toy car.
So What Is It? Base or S? 02-04 or 05-06?

Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S. Type S.
As far as year goes it's really not all that important, just whether you like the headlights that teardrop down or not, then after that it's a matter of what you can afford. The newer ones are going to have better resale but the older ones have already gone through most of their depreciation.

Alright two things in regards to answers thus far:
I will DEFINITELY swap a Type R motor/tranny, so should I just save cash and go base?
I love the teardrop but I almost think the non-teardrop looks more mature (?). I don't care about resale unless it works in my favor buying the car.

A big concern of mine are the little changes between years that usually add up to a significant difference, anyone familiar with these?
How about sunroof/moonroof? Were they options or on every car? I DON'T want either.

If you keep the base motor, you can boost with a lower compression and swap the heads with a type-s. It is a waste to get a type-s and swap out the motor with a type-r, your only getting 20 or so more hp for a couple grand more.

Anyone know what Type S motors are going for with 80k?
As for shaving milliseconds off of my 1/4 mile, I might take it to the strip once in a while, and I WILL gut it out, but if Iwas too worried about drag racing I'd enlist the help of my Evo!!
Thanks a bunch for everyone's advice by the way, I'm definitely leaning towards an '02 Type S.
**EDIT** I would NEVER boost it either, I'm getting rid of my Civic so I had to get another all-motor Honda!

coming from someone who used to own a rsx type-s... i would definently go with the type-r motor alto better platform... but deffinently get a full race turbo kit that they make for them my buddie has one and is putting down 450whp
Get a type s. Get a k24a4 bottom end out of a TSX. With that and 12:5.1 compression pistons, IPS KME cams, some headwork, valvetrain, SSR or Hytech Header, intake manifold and hondata IMG, and Hondata K pro with a 3 inch exhaust youll probably make over 280whp all motor.

As far as cost....well it wouldnt be cheap.
about 1500 for the bottom end
1500 for pistons and rods
1500 for the ips kme cams and valvetrain
1000-2000 for headwork
the build costs
ssr or hytech header would be 900-1300
hondata about 1500
its definitly not cheap. But its got a wicked powerband, and is insanely fun to drive.
you can buy a type s for 10k easy my friend just sold his for a wrx. i just dont like how they make no power they did a power pages on it in import tuner and it made only 210 whp with full header back, intake, cams and valvetrain, and hondata k-pro. for all that money u really dont get much
