Raced 997 TT twice with the Z06 and the Z just pulled away from the P car........oh and that was on the street/ highway...
GT2 numbers aren't out yet.... and for $200,000....I could build a C6GTR....... and as you know GT2's are lapped by GT1's....and what car has dominated GT1 class for the last 6 years now. One guess and it strats with a C.
Porsche GT2 is a race car from the factory, roll cage and all. Great car but you have you ever sat in one ( I have ) and you wouldn't want to DD it to work or the supermarket or go out for a nice ride with your girl....it's raw man.

I take the car to the 1/4 mile track often and have seen several 997tt and several Z06's run. Both are impressive cars but the 997tt's consistently outrun the Z06's. I live in Denver so maybe the altitude makes a big difference. However, for the money the Z06 is an incredible car.
The 997 GT2 should be an awesome vehicle.

I assume you're reffering to the LeMans corvette gt1 class car? While the GT1 cars are faster, Im gonna have to contest the Corvette as the dominant GT1 class car. Whenever another team would beat them in the ALMS series they would change the rules to restrict the other cars even further and give the advantage back to the Vette. The Vette team drove all the other competition away because of this ( No more Aston Martins
) and now they just race against themselves, which is boring.I went to the New England Grand Prix a couple weeks ago and found it a major disapointment to see no Aston Martins, Lambo Murcielagos, Saleen S7's , Masterati MC12s none of the cool cars there used to be in previous years. The factory backed cars are always going to have more $ put into them but I think its totally unnecessary and unfair to bend the rules for the vette to be the dominant car. If you look at the European LeMans series, or the Asian LeMans series cars, where they also run C6R corvettes, they do not win nearly as much and are anything but dominant. Just my 2 cents on the subject and my rant about not seeing any other GT1 cars a couple weeks ago other than 2 teammate corvettes going around and around Wrong!!

Wow, you have seemed t miss the point. I said surface streets, not Drag racing. A Surface street is nowhere near as forgiving and as settled as a Track. Ruts, bumps, pot holes, wet, tight back roads. The latest Z06 suspension is a charm on the track for certain but as you know brutal and unsettling on daily driving where the Porsche is certainly smoother and can handle the uneven pavement better as it is really focused as a street car where as the Z06 is focused on the track. I am not even going to mention what would happen in the Wet. IMHO the Porsche Turbo is the better Street car then a C6 Z06 and is certainly more usable.
A C6 Z06 will beat a 911 Turbo of the same year in the Straight for certain. We all know how fast they are in a straight line.
The GT2 Looks to be faster then the C6 Z06 as it has more power but who knows.
Let me know how your C6 GTR build comes. Domination comes and goes, hell Ford Dominated Ferrari for a number of years, which car would you rather have?

The fact is that they PUT THE RESTRICTION ON THE CORVETTE C6R'S!! everyone knows that. They did so because the C5R's and the first C6R's were much faster than their competitors and they often finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd, So they had to add more weight to them to give the Astons ( their major competition) and the others cars mentioned a chance. I agree I would like to see other brands compeate in that class like in GT2 which is filled with Porsches and Ferrrari's etc. I think the Astons will be at the next ALMS race so it should be interesting.

I agree on the 997 being a better street car. I is smoother than the Z but I have to say having had it for over 3 months, the ride is not bad at all! I do try and avoid
Ruts, bumps, pot holes but I would do that with any car especially the Evo.

Also on the track given both drivers are equal. Lets face it the Z06 or the Porsche each has their own personalities and you have to be a good driver to get the most out of either platform. In the hands of a beginner with either car you could get yourself in trouble.

Again I agree it should be its lighter and has more HP and it's more of a race car than a street car. I think it is a great car at least the last gen was but for half the $$ I think the upcoming ulta lite 650-700hp SS or what ever they deside to call it will be hard to beat for the $$. BTW I'm on the list to get one. Thats when the 07 Z06 gets sold.
Let me know how your C6 GTR build comes. Never said I was building one
Like to drive one though.
Domination comes and goes, hell Ford Dominated Ferrari for a number of years.
I agree thats what is so great about competition. Better, safer, faster cars for all of us that love them to enjoy.
Which car would you rather have?
Tough question. That would depend on which models of Ferrari vs the Ford GT or Cobras. They all can be worth a lot of $$ in the collectors market.

Considering that the new Viper is slated to have 600hp, the Blue Devil a.k.a. "Stingray", Z07 or whatever you wanna call it....thats a supercharged 600 and change, and even Cadillac is suggesting a CTS-V with the LS7 engine in a detuned format, I'd say Porsche did the right thing here.
I mean, sex is sex. But that is sex, gets you sex and makes you a sex symbol. Oh what I would give for that car.
