Question Contemplating 4G63 Honda Fit

Call me crazy, but I am only looking for positive and helpful information please.

I have an older block to a GS-T 5 speed and I just recently bought a 07 Honda Fit. Although I have never tried a cross brand swap, I know the block can fit if I notch the lower frame rails. I just don't know what kind of fab or custom work I would need to do to get it to run reliably.

Custom Axles, Mounts, Shifter location, and some creative electrial wiring and ecu configurations are things I am sure will be hassle, but it would be worth it to have them work. Also, would there be a chance of getting an evo VII or IX block to fit if they have similar dimensions and just run the FWD setup instead?

I might just be curious if its feasable within reason and not too expensive, but it is just a thought and not something I am taking seriously unless the previous two points are true.

It is going to be expensive. If successful, it will take lots of time to complete and get all the bugs worked out.

i dont think putting an old engine into a new car is smart

if you are going to do a project like that, id just get an older shell like an eg or ek, and not ruin a perfectly new car

I had a Honda Fit. 4g63 thats a extemely tight fit... the K20 barely fits... even with frame notching. Non Turbo. Props to you if you complete it!

The evo's have more complicated wiring IIRC than a DSM, and I'm not sure what side the trans on the fit is on. (evo and DSM are flipped)

thanks for the replies, I just want to try something that isn't too common and Ive always been a fan of the 4G63. I was reading about some guy putting an LS1 into a MK1 MR2 and I thought that the weight and power difference would make one hellova car. The fit is great but it needs a lot more kick and honda motors are hard to come by in that dept.

As to this swap, I would think tranny and linkage would be the biggest pain if I mounted the motor correctly. There is a lot of room under the firewall since the motor is set back so far in the bay, maybe I could tunnel to the back and run the motor longitudinal for some RWD action. I dunno, its fun to think about.

I always thought a 4G in an S2000 would be an interesting combination.
