Thoughts and recommendations on C5 Z06
The Z06 is a totally different animal. the LS2 is a lot higher compression and higher revving with an exhaust is absolutely musical. I had a cargasm on the highway one time next to one who was RUNNING away from me at wide open.
Former Evo 8 owner here. Enjoyed almost 3 years of ownership that ended unfortunately in a head on collision caused by another driver. It was sad to see it go.
But I have since picked up a '02 Z06. it was sort of an impulse buy after test driving it. There are times when I'm excited about it and there are times when I'm not. its about half and half I'd say at this point and its only been about 4 months. Have been considering going back to an evo. What I loved about the evo was its versatility, durability and you could drive it really hard and fast in any condition. The z06 is superior in alot of ways but it just can't be driven the way an evo can and its not the most versatile of vehicles, although its great gas mileage is a blessing since I commute alot.
What are you guys' thoughts on this I know several have come from Z06s or gone to them.

The Z06 has its place in the lineup of vehicles.
Whether or not that place sits in your desired lineup, is entirely your choice.
Now, I get on the "if money were no object' kick all the time, but if money WERE no object, I would:
Have an Evo...probably a race car on the street, wide body, big turbo, stroker-the works....
Have an STi, more as a daily/winter car....still modded, but much more likely to get trashed and have McDonalds wrapper's in the back.
300C SRT8....everyone needs a big car, I just happen to like this one. I would probably send it off to HP Performance to turbocharge it and build the motor. Nothing like 800hp in a VIP cruiser.
But the Z06....AHH YES...the Z06. I would hopefully have a brand new one (black on black, saw it at the dealership...pure SEX)
I would attempt to have one of the wildest engine combos I could think of, and just have that car for roll-ons and straight line stuff....
Whats my point? The Vette is great....its fast, handles pretty well and has the cool factory. Its more expensive, but all things equal it has massive tuneability and is simple enough to work on.....
Its a great car, and enjoy it for what it is, not trying to make it into something it isn't.

In the same boat had the evo for awhile, and am looking for a change. This might be it. If the evo X kicks butt then I may come back. Only time will tell. It is a great car, I mean 2 pages and nobody bashing it yet that should tell you something.
