Caved In to Temptation, Bought New Car

After checking out a few dealerships and test-driving a few choices over the last couple of weeks, I finally caved in to temptations and bought a new car today. I had wanted to wait for the new GTR, but since I refuse to pay dealer markups I probably have to wait another 2 years to get my hands on one.

Here's a preview.

Will post more info in a bit.

Ya, well I had my regrets with my decision to trade in the Evo for the CLS. The CLS wasn't a slow car by any means, but it just wasn't as fun to drive as my old Evo. I've always been a huge fan of a GTR, but never felt comfortable buying imported R34s. From speaking with dealers in the area, I get the vibe that there will be markups for 6 months at least, and realistically it will be 12 months after the car comes out before I can get my hands on one at MSRP.

Lately I've been looking around, trying out a few different cars and seeing what my options are. In the end, I just decided to get something now instead of waiting. Will I regret my decision? Perhaps, but at least I'll have something sporty to drive.

The price was right on this particular car, as were the color combination. It is an automatic, which probably isn't a popular choice around here, but at this point I don't really feel the need to drive a manual anymore. The transmission was impressive and gear changes were good. More power than I need obviously.

I did check out a few other cars, and my final choices were the Turbo, BMW M6 and AM V8 Vantage. The M6 was more GT than sports car and I was concerned with resale values and reliability on the Aston, so the Turbo won out.

Car is getting a detail, 3M clear bra and tints, and I will pick her up on Friday night or Saturday. I'll have my friend do a photo shoot when I get her and post up the pics. It would be nice to keep the CLS as a daily, but there is no way I can afford to keep both cars. If I had bought a GTR there were plans to upgrade the daily driver ('03 Pathfinder), but those plans will have to be kept on hold for quite a while.

Pics of the CLS. It was one comfortable ride.

The Turbo should hold it's value relatively well. I didn't even know you could buy it in an automatic though, and that may hurt resale. But hey, in 2 years, should still be a straight trade at least for the GTR. You don't really want to buy a completely new car in it's first year anyways

The P-Car was used but only has 700 miles on it. It belonged to a friend's client, and was actually up for consignment at a Porsche dealer. Altogether, paid around $140k (prior to trade in) for a fully-loaded car with PCCB ($9k option) and a bunch of other goodies. I got a great deal on the trade-in too.

The MSRP on the P-Turbo is $126k. What was the cost of all the options?

Travel agency and real estate development.

Started my own business with a friend after college, and haven't looked back since.
