Car and Driver US Spec STI First Drive Review
Car and Driver US Spec STI First Drive Review
Mixed reviews of the STI by Car and Driver. The car is heavier (around 3400Lbs) than the 07 version, and has slightly more power (305HP/290TQ), so likely will not be quicker than the out going 07 version.

Agreed, even the HKS one posted with the gold RGII's looked like complete and utter garbage. Good thing I'm done with 4-door rice rockets, and back to the zee german car community I go. Well upon my next car purchase that is. I foresee and Audi in my near future.

I honestly don't see how, especially if the MR is going to come in at around 35k and fully loaded for 38k. Especially when a 335i starts @ 38k and expectations are the new twin-turbo B8 Audi S4 will come in at the same price starting.
Both of the aforementioned vehicles looks worlds better than the Evo X and imho the new interior isn't THAT much better than the previous generations. Sure it has aluminum trim and all but so does the competition. Including markup I'm expecting the Evo's to go for around $40k which is way too high for a

Not to flame but the title of this thread is misleading, C&D did not actually test a US Spec STI as indicated in the article:
The interior pics also show a RHD layout.
Nice find nonetheless.
A handful of laps at Japan’s Fuji Speedway in a Japan-spec STI doesn’t qualify us for a definitive response on Solberg’s dynamic philosophy, but we can testify to the abundance of body roll, as well as ample understeer.

Didn't everyone complain about the looks of pretty much all the evos and stis? I don't see how this is any different, the car wasn't built to be pretty, it was built to be a thrilling driving experience.
The increase in price and the weight are disappointing. If it came in a 3-door I might be very interested. Still, even with AWD, I don't see how it's 12K better than a Mazdaspeed3.
All in all, both Subaru and Mitsu are trying to appeal to a broader range of drivers. And unfortunately, instead of a performance war between Subaru and Mitsu, we have a comfort and accessories war. It's too bad. Glad I bought my car when I did.
