Rotary Engines should be in a history book, NOT IN A CAR.

^^^^Please enlighten me as to exactly what a rotary engine can do that cannot be accomplished by any other engine type? If it exists only for the sole purpose of being different, then I agree the rotary does accomplish the objective.

not everyone likes to do engine rebuilds and replace cracked exhaust manifolds before 60,000 miles. Different than pistons....yes. Better......no

It was my understanding that rotary engines can rev very high and produce good power with a tiny displacement. I don't know about you, but I like diversity in the car world.

Rotary engines are small and light and make ****-tons of power when turbocharged. They spool big turbos like big displacement motors. And they rev to the moon.

Yeah I can see how they suck.

They would be particularly bad if Mazda added direct-injection-like fuel delivery to help combat the rotary's pre-ignition/detonation weakness.

I find it funny how evo guys are making fun of the reliability of rotary motors. How many people make it to 60000 miles on the stock clutch?

I like the car on looks alone. As for the rotary or "Wankel" engine it has it's pros and cons. Would I own one? Probably not, but I can be impressed and amused that Mazda will put this into production. I do like how it sounds like a motorcycle at high rpms imo
