Yeah, I thought so. I don't know what you could posibly convert over here that would look like a fto, but it certianly was not a 3000GT. But personaly the fto kind of remminds me of the rx-7, body wise.

Hi guys,

Just to set the record straight.

The Mitsu FTO was a grey import into the UK market and is increasingly becoming popular with the UK drivers. A lot were also shipped out to New Zealand however from what I hear parts in New Zealand are fairly expensive. The UK market however has developed a good second hand parts facility but new parts can also be bought from UK Mitsu dealers.

Oh and the conversion on the GTO is in fact the headlight conversion making it look similar to the FTO front end. The original lights on the GTO are "pop-ups" but the conversion allows a clear glass cluster look.

Hope this is helps.

By the way I own a Mitsubishi FTO 2.0 V6 24 V MIVEC......it rocks man!!

the RI would have to demonstrate that the vehicle, when modified, would comply with the applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards, which could involve crash testing several vehicles.
quote from NHTSA site...the FTO isnt on the list for legal imports, so you'd have to get multiple FTOs, convert each one to RHD, and have them do crash test data[ crashing them ] to see if they meet saftey standards.....thats not even including having to meet emission standards.

I want this car so bad.....anyone know if you can get them into canada, are their requirements less strict? if so...CANADA here i come..

How can you say the FTO is an ugly car? Any FTO owners I know are into the car mainly because of its looks, OK 200HP might be underpowered for you, but I owned 2 of these babies and I they look, drive and sound great! I've never driven a better handling front wheel drive car and in terms of looks, the FTO certainly stands out from the crowd.
