girl has a 98' bug, and its just goin downhill .......when you hit the gas it basically wants to stutter, you have to ease off the gas wait for it to kind of pickup than you can hit gas gradually, and htis doesn't always work either.....

what i've done so far was pull the fuel injectors, started to crank and had my brother watch to see if one wasn't fireing....we thought we found one that wasn't, i changed it out..still car is doin the same thing....

i've also changed all the spark plugs as well..

i'm wondering if it could be the distributor on this car is goin or what......the CEL has been on forever, but when the car started to buck the light would flash, i belive these cars are ODBII, I was going to use scantek to try and pull any codes its pushing, but couldn't find the connector...will look again today.

any help is appreciated.

 

try finding the obd using this guide that shows the locations of the obd connector in all sorts of VW's http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/dlc.html#b3

anyone???? i'm trying to post this in the vw forum but registration takes a while, been waiting all morning now for confirmation email from an admin.

 

UPdate for those who care ....i managed to hook up my tactrix to it with scan tek, codes pulled were misfire in cylindars 2 , 3 , and 4.....so i'm guessing now issue is the ignition coil, gonna swap that out and see what happens.

 

If you want to test the coil and wires. Use a mister and spray a mist of water over the coil/wires. That will tell u if it's ignition. Also check the ground strap from the battery and it's connections on both ends. they come loose after a while.

I would suggest doing a throttle body cleaning and induction service for good measure. I was in VW service for 3 years before I moved over to BMW.

Oh.... and change the fuel filter if you haven't already.

 

Well i did change out the ignition coil, and it hasn't changed a thing....

heres an odd thing, above the ignitnion is this big black thing, that just has two air hoses on it that connect to the intake it looks like, but when i turn the car on, that thing vibrates alot and makes alot of noise, not sure if that has any relevance...

but the car still kinda just bogs when you hit the gas dosen't want to go or rev or anything....not sure what issue can be now.

 

+1 on the Fuel Filter.

 

Could be the Fuel Filter, also check the MAF and clean if needed, Could also be the CAT being clogged.

Started thinking about it. It can also be the Fuel Pump or the Fuel Pressure Regulator, and ignition.

I know its a long list but one thing at a time. You might want to take it to a Shucks if you have one locally and have them pull the error code from the ECU i believe most Shucks do this for free.

i was able to pull codes, all it said was misfire in 2 3 and 4 cylindar.
