Back to back Test Drive + Analysis: 350z Vs S2000
And the moral of this story is NEVER call a 350Z mediocre if your talking to someone who drives a 98 Honda Accord LX. Seriously, if anyone should know about automotive mediocrity.....
Don't tell me what kind of opinion I can have.
I've driven my friends 350z numerous times, and it just doesnt compare to an Evo or M3. An M3 is much higher quality and more refined, and the Evo blows the 350z in terms of pure performance and driving pleasure. Im sorry, but the 350z is not some godsend. It is not a vehicle I would consider buying, regardless of price.
BTW, Im not saying the 350z is a bad car by any means. Im just saying that, TO ME, it doesn't feel like anything special.

You pick out a car that handles as well as it does, is as new as it is... appealing styling like it has, sound like it has... braking like it has... and availability at a low price with low miles like it has... that runs 13's with bolt ons for the price it demands (hmm, bout $16-17,000).
Now don't whip out "C5 Corvette" because you would be looking at more than DOUBLE the mileage and also a car that is 6-7 years OLDer... and STILL doesn't take the slalom as fast, stop as fast or beat it as far as build quality goes (not saying the Z is special there but a Chevy SURELY is not).
I am by no means in love with the 350z, but I DO believe strongly in giving each car its credit that it earned even if I hate the damn car.
the z is very underated car. My buddy went 13.2 with a set of drag radials and full exhaust.
so a turbo kit, nice clutch, and drag radials. this would be a solid 11 sec car.

First of all, NO one compared this to an EVO or M3... nor does anyone care about that comparison. Second of all, no one said it was a godsend, third of all... you did not say it was a "bad car by any means"... you said it was a POS... is there a difference?

Actually on the first page you did compare the 350z to the M3, saying that they had identical lap times on TopGear. I was just saying that I dont care for laptimes, the M3 is great on or off the track.
Anyway, on topic. I would take the S2000 over the 350z in a heartbeat.

NOWWWW!
i've owned 2 350z's and 2 s2000's. my take...
the s2000 is the better car.
i agree with you on most things, but..
the s2k may not feel as fast, but it is actually a little quicker in straight line acceleration (03-06 z's). the z feels a bit quicker because of the tq, but don't let it fool you. the z feels good down low but gets numb as the revs climb.
i actually like the shifter in the z, but not nearly as much as the s2k. the clutch on the z however sucks. it isn't a stiff clutch but the release point feels a litte strange. it's not as smooth as most stock clutches are.
