I thought using a torque wrench was doing it by hand. Do you mean the dealer used an impact wrench? Otherwise I'm doing something wrong.

at the road course in a Time Trial (electronically timed and all drivers are experienced) on a road course I was .1 of a seconds slower than a completely stripped Type R with exhaust, intake, coilovers and running some kind of R compound tires (i don't recall what kind)..... I had my full interior Evo with stock tires (i did remove the spare though), stock exhaust, stock everything....

I could see how Secret Chimp could lap people at Beaverun in 20 minutes!!

Wow it seems like there is alot of ITR owners that sold
them to get EVO's. How many of you guys posted on honda-tech?? By the way i have a RHD CTR that I am considering selling to get an evo but dont know if I could bring myself to do it I may just half to have both.
Bro if you can affored them both, keep the civic type R. I alsmost bought one. But I wanted afaster version so I built a stronger one. I still wish I had my ITR though... Very fun car. A civic type r I would rather have over ITR becuase the compression is lower and you can add a little more to it.

I am a "from day one" member of Honda-tech.... Cheeseman is my handle there. I don't post much anymore...but I do view from time to time.

I think almost EVERYONE with a type R had to deal with thieves in one way or another. Most of my friends R's were stolen or broken into.... My ITR was attempted stolen from my driveway. There was not a sound made by my Clifford alarm...or it's battery back-up. But they didn't find my well hidden manual fuel pump kill switch.....but they did do $8k in damage to the car trying to take it from me.

SC~

From the September 2003 issue of SCC...

In the first few years of the Eight Great Rides award, it was the Integra Type R that consistently dominated the award. It was always fastest, always the most involving to drive, always the yardstick by which all others would be measured. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII is the new yardstick.

Honda/Acura would probably be the brand I respect the most as far as all out quality. I did most of the work to my friends Civic SI 1.6 w/ 300WHP...awesome! I drove a 4-Door ITR GSR for allittle, nice car...but not as fun as the Civic suprisingly. Both the 1.8 & 1.6 are awesome engines (Yes, you will get rocked by just about every V8...but who cares?) ...Its so fun to wind them up to 8-9k rpms! The sound with 3in N1 exhaust is awesome on either B series motor... I wanted a car that came factory boosted...that way I had a higher threshold of straightline performance... So I got the Evo...and its awesome...

Not Me Not even one break in attempt or theft attempt. Though when I sold it. The guy that bought it from me had it all of 3 months before it was stolen!

True because of how similar they are in many aspects...handling...rare...value...fast. I had a Type R untill it got stolen 6 months ago and have since upgraded to the Evo 8.

I had a white '97 ITR # 265 (thus my handle) and I now have a white evo. I loved my Type R and the Evo is like it on steroids and I am very happy with it. I wish I had the same confidence in the reliability of the Evo but while I haven't had major problems yet, it's only a matter of time.

Cheeseman, how's it going? Funny how the smart people choose the smart cars! I haven't seen you around in a while. Last I heard, you were back on the east coast. Does Matt still have his 350Z? You should come back to your hometown auto-x. We have some good evo competition there.
