Some Honda questions

I'm planning to get a car soon (with the next year or so) and was looking into getting something sporty without going over $26k. I'm really hyped for the RA, but also find myself oddly attracted to Honda's new '09 Fit (2nd gen model). If the pricing/features are right, I might seriously consider it. Not only is it easier on the pocketbook, but it looks like a fun little vehicle to toss around too. What do you guys think of it? And, does anyone know of a Honda forum/community as large and as active as these forums?

You must be crazy. Please don't go over to the dark side. Nowhere in Honda world will you find a car even slightly as nice as an Evo.

hmm perfomance wise id have to agree but if you throw in the word "Nice" id have to disagree Evo's are Ok looking think about they are family sedans on roids.

i can name 2 Hondas that are nicer then Evo's no actually i can name alot more then that but.

anyway dont think the wrong idea Evo's are great cars but i dont like ignorant people that think their cars are the best in the world and everything else sucks

Yes, start off by asking yourself what will be the main purpose of this car? DD? Fun-play car? Auto-x? Drag? From there, do research on those car's forums. I'm sure there are Fit forums and there are plenty of other Honda forums.

Can't go wrong with Honda!

I love my Evo, but i also absolutely love my accord. Yes I said accord. She's not even a sporty car, but no matter how you slice it, Honda's build quality and reliability completely trump the Evo - and since that's not really a fair comparison anyway, let me say this, it's second to none, and tied only with Toyota and CERTAIN Nissans. You can most definitely get a fun Honda for within the price you're looking at.
I definitely agree with the advice of assessing first, what it is you want it for. If it's a DD of any kind, the S2k may not be the best option for example; as it's power is up top on the RPM range making it not the most easily driven car in stop-and-go traffic.
That's just an example, but over all, figure out what you want it for, whether you intend of ever changing it to forced induction (although I don't know why. Honda's are the best N/A motors out there in my opinion) and plan ahead. Bottom line, you can't really go wrong with Honda.. period. My 0.2c

I would look into a Fit, you can find slightly used 07s and 08s for cheap. They are really fun to drive and just as fun to track. These cars handle great out of the box and once you tack on a sway bar and some good tires, it can grip and rip.

A good fit website is www.fitfreak.net

There is a lot of information on there.

I do miss my evo but bang for the buck goes to the fit. I have taken it SCCA solo racing 5 times, tacked on 55,000 miles and I have been through 2 sets of tires and still on the original brake pads and clutch.

the fit looks like a cool car. It doesnt look like a track car, looks more like a commuter car.

If you live in sunny SD why not get a used S2K? Thats what I would do. You could buy a used one of them and a used Civic for under $25K.
I love Honda's, I had a Civic Si (99') before my Evo. Bought it new, drove it for 5yrs, beat the death out of thing and it never complained. I just had to add a qt. of oil every 1000 miles. In fact I'm buying an 04' Accord off my parents in May for a DD beater.
Honda's are great everyday cars.

I actually considered a Honda Fit before I ended up with the Evo. The Evo just fell into my lap actually.

I still want to own an S2000 one of these days as they are a great bargain used.
