EVO magazine: Z06 faster than GTR

Here are the stats:

GT-R: 0-100 = 8.9, 100-0 = 4.3, accel to brake reaction time = 0.6
Z06: 0-100 = 8.5, 100-0 = 4.5, accel to brake reaction time = 1.0

The Z06's lead would've been even larger had they gone past 100mph because they said it was accelerating harder.

Pretty impressive considering the Z06's tires aren't as good and it's 3 years older.

Sh*t... that's a little disappointing. Not that I would be able to afford either car, but they are both in the same price range. I was just rooting for the GT-R to be the American Muscle slayer.

well you have to understand something. We are in America and our economy depends on Chevy big time. I have a trucking company and I know what I am talking about. So I would not be surpised if they said that the new Cobalt Turbo is almost as fast if not faster then the GTR. I would still choose the GTR, but I hope more people would buy Chevy I need to feed the family. Guys It's all a big business.

EVO is a European magazine - they probably couldn't care less about Chevy or the US economy.

you're thinking of CAR magazine, they compared it with the new M3, GT3, R8.

I read the full article thorugh the corvette forum. I would definately not be in favor of the Z06 but my opinion is that stock for stock only the GTR will beat the Z06 out of the whole due to its AWD but I was always a firm believer that from a roll the Vette's power to weight ratio is really hard to beat (6.2lbs/hp).

Both cars suppose to make great power with bolt ons but again, the Vette greater power to weight ratio advantage will play a big role when it comes to braking, acceleration from a roll, etc.

I am more interested in the handling department, the GTR comes with a sophisticated suspension and also massive brakes, the vette instead is old classic physics 77" wide by 48.5" tall.. you know what I mean...

I truly can't wait to see a real comparo. If GTRs were selling at invoice-MSRP I would have a GTR in my garage before the Vette but being the Z06 the one being sold at just over invoice earned a spot on my garage.

my .2c

No. this is a different test. There are 2 other comnparos already on the GTR. One agaisnt the M-3 and Porsche GT3-RS and a second comparo exclusively against the Porsche GTR-RS. In both test(videos) the GTR out performs the Porsche GT3-RS by a microscopic air, the laps times were absolutely insignificant.

So far and from what I have seen only in the handling the department the Porsche GT3-RS is a true direct competitor.

These are the videos I was talking about:

Lets see, the Skyline has LESS hp, LESS Torque and weighs 600 pounds more and has back seats and awd and handles FAR FAR better and loses by .4 secs and breaks better.

Hmmm, I guess you can just crank that boost for som LOW 10 second pump gas times, they do 11.3 stock, immagine with mods even just on pump gas. OMG what a superior car, if you wana drag, but a f-Body LS1, if you want a race car get the Skyline, come on people.

^^^ I am not sure about handling FAR FAR better. As far is power, I think the car is underrated meaning that with such weight it is probably making much more power than advertized..

I still want to see a GTR doing 10.9@129 stock, just like the Z06 did... speaking of GTR times, were did you see the 11.3 sec? can you post a link? And by the way, yes you re right, it is a heck of a car..

but remember one thing, the Z06s are being sold for under $70000 and the GTR.. well look at this:

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/31/n...-000-for-gt-r/

Also, in referenece to the rear seats, would you do a country side trip with 4 adults and luaggage on a GTR? Can you even fit 2 average size adults (5' 10" 175lbs) in the back? I am not trying to poke in the ye but I think the rear GTR seats are just simbolic and not much practical.

My .2c
