That is a nice looking bike. I have seen it before and I also been tempted. I am the type of guy that can not have a 1000cc sport bike because the first thing I would do is to take it for a top speed run and I just can't afford doing that anymore.

That 250cc bike not only looks astonishing but I think is the perfect compromise of fun/price and performance for someone like you and me that just want to go for a spin and practice some riding techniques.

Congrats on the motorbike, it really looks like a great deal to me.

You ride long enough, you'll know guys who either get seriously injured or are dead.

As for me, if I didn't have my gear on, I'd be a lot worse off than just having a metal plate in my arm. Half my face would probably be reconstructed and maybe still eating out of a straw. Oh yeah, only wear a full face helmet. Those half shells are garbage. I'd have a new face from eyes down if I had a half shell on.

I only use the pants and back protector for weekend rides or trackdays, but I ride relatively mellow on the street. I always have helmet, full gauntlet gloves (go fully over your wrists), jacket (Alpinestars SMX-Airflow) and boots(Sidi). I know a couple guys with broken ankles because they weren't wearing boots.

yeah i must admit i dont wear the boots as much as i should. jacket w/ built in back protector, helmet, and gloves every time though. and i second that half and 3/4 helmet comment those do nothing when you fall face first or highside.

+1 for the gear. my dad rides so i know the procedure, the statistics, the stories, all of it.

and this bike is mainly for just riding to school, work, friends house, weekend cruises, whenever i don't feel like being on 4 wheels basically.

god it's sooo fun. should be getting my exhaust for it soon.

I'm up to five jackets, two pairs of leather pants, three helmets, a one-piece race suit, two sets of gloves, three boots and five pairs of motorcycle jeans (kevlar lined). It's fun to be a gear junkie. I'd suggest something other than that Icon helmet too. Far, far too heavy.

But great choice for a first bike. Glad you made the right decision in that department. Enjoy and be safe.
