Will Honda ever make a boosted sports car?

Like the title states. Will honda ever make a boosted sports car. They make amazing motors, I just dont understand why they dont make a sports car. Not counting the s2k. I think that if they offered a car that was boosted, and had good power, it would sell like mad. Is there any hope in the future?

Not anytime soon. They sell alot of cars with there line up as is. They dont have a need to. There a company that is not based on power as there selling point its all about mpg's for them and thats where all the R&D goes into.

Im pretty sure they have played with the idea but not worth the risk at this time.

I can see it now: "Honda makes a turbocharged RWD sportscar!"

Top ten causes of Death in America.

1. FACTORY TURBOCHARGED S2000's!!!!

In all honesty the N/A S2000 was more performance than what most people could handle. I couldn't see the average buyer needing MORE power; especially power that just kicks in at a moments notice.

I wouldn't count on it. Honda is considered the most fuel efficient manufacturer and I don't think that they're going to do anything to compromise that image.

Unless they bring over a turbo diesel. I know they're planning on a diesel Civic, but not sure if it'll be a turbo.

Hmm...I guess thats my whole point. With honda being a fuel effecient brand, I think if they could design a motor that made good power with out compromsing fuel efficiency, they would make a killing. But I guess that is the big question. being able to make good hp, while not compromsing mpg.

Toyota is working on this - supposedly - with the new hybrid Supra. If they pull this off, Honda might then retaliate with a car of their own. Honda has pretty much focused on the development of the FCX as of late. If you ask me though. If honda made a nice 4 door sports car with SH-AWD and a good power - charged or not - I would be on it like white on rice!!! Honda's made insane power in the past completely N/A. There is more talent in doing that than relying on charging. Just my 0.02

I agree, and almost all motors made that are diesel are coupled with a turbo charger. Not really sure why but the last cars that were diesel without FI were the old mercedes.

You are asking for the impossible. Making more power especially via FI means more air in the cylinder. To offset the addition of that air you need more fuel. It just doesnt work that way with the current motor/turbo configurations.

Honda made their first ever factory turbo motor in that Acura SUV as of last year I believe. So its not completely out of the question for them to attempt a FI sport model.

To another post above all of Honda's R&D isnt in fuel economy although I will agree most of it is. There is currently a Honda Element competing in the NOPI drift series that has a twin turbo Acura TL motor with an NSX drive train or some combination similar with crazy fabbed Honda hardware. The car is outputting over 500 horses. The whole car is/was built and is still maintained in close partnership with Honda R&D.

First off nothing is impossible. Second, I think that is where the money is, not only in performace but in all apsects of the internal combustion motor. The ability to have power with out hurting the fuel economy. I beleive its only a matter of time, before we start seeing ways to significantly increase power with out hurting fuel economy. I do believe its something along the lines of a hibrid, and I do believe within the next 3-4 years we will see ways to have a motor/car, cruise using very low amounts of fuel.

A little birdy told me that by 2010 honda is supposed to have a fully tuner car. I won't say more than that.. not sure if it will be boosted or not. Supposed to be able to compete with the higher class tuner cars.. not sure about the evo/sti though.

i know it isnt a sports car, but the Acura RDX is practically a lifted evo made by honda.

k24 turbo, awd...could be interesting if someone decided to use an RSX chassis and custom transplant the motor/drivetrain/etc/ from an RDX onto it.
