While pulling into the fast food place he sees a red evo being driven by some dude from turbo xs and they both decide to race. Both cars are stock and the evo8 eats the sti of the line but the dude in the sti said he pulled back and smoked the evo8 with no problem. Now my question is the STI really that strong that it can smoke the evo8 in a straight a way that badly i mean come on yea it has 29hp more but the evo8 has a much better suspension setup. What do you guys think?
Mark (owner of TurboXS) drives the EVO 99% of the time and doesn't street race. Our STI is currently faster then our EVO, but that isn’t likely to stay the case since our UTEC for the EVO is going to be done first. I think the story is BS. I ran 13.1@104 in the STI (with our exhaust system) in the heat last Friday.

For what it's worth, we've not had any other STI's on the dyno but our own so the guy wasn't going to be coming over for a dyno appointment.

We have it on our EVO now, but are waiting for production boards to come though the pipeline.

Why u guys always hatin on the sti, just give it props on what it can do

always hatin like

"2.5L engine. Untested, unproven."

or it has no sound system

bla bla bull**** u know u were gonna put in a new sound system sooner or later

it sounds like u guys are tryin to boost ur confidence cuz u know u shoulda gone subbie cuz the subbie will prove better , and it will blow the evo away

and i also got the sti for 31k so dont say no bs about oh its so much more expensive than the evo, cuz the evo was only like 1k less

How is this response any more mature then any of the other bias comments on this boards which obviously would exist on an "EVO" forum. The Subaru guys at Nasioc, I-Club, Club WRX all make similar comments against the EVO as well its part of the rivalry. Personally I have no prob with the STI but I'm very happy with my purchase and prefer the EVO, its close enough to debate. Oh and BTW, Bees, Disease and a whole lot of PINGING to you

Oh yeah, did I forget? The STi motor suddenly became proven and tested because of your post?? The fact is that Subaru screwed up trying to trump the Evo with HP figures. They rushed the new motor to the market and ended up with detonation problems. Before you decide to complete enter yourself into the realm of the moron, I had my heart set on an STi for a long time.

I was going to post something else, but I think I'll refrain. Like they always say, "If you have to show your dick, it's too small."

It's not any more mature...

All I'm gonna say about the detonation issue is I know someone who owns an STi, the heat index is 110 degrees or more here every day, we only have 91 octane gas, and he has no problems. You guys act like Mitsu's 4g63 has a great reliability record, I personally know 5 people with modded 4g63s, at any given time you'll be lucky to find 2 of them running...

And the price issue only really matters if you paid cash for your EVO. Did you? I dunno, you might have, but I doubt it. Most likely you put a down payment down and are making monthly payments. I bet there's not that much of a difference between the payments on an EVO and an STi, and therefore the owners of both cars have about the same amount of money for mods.

With all that said, if I had 30 grand to spend, I'd probably buy an EVO, it's just my preference, so don't dismiss me as a Subaru fanboy just because I own one.
