Vette is still ****, just not R8 "Baywatch" ****.

 

Good comparison, loved the setup of the site and that they actually offer decent quality video to stream.

R8's a beautiful car, hope I can get a chance to drive one someday

Congrats on your Vette, finally GM put the right car at the right price to fill the gap between the lS2 C6 and the C6 Z06, evofunk( my friend) from this forum is also getting one. You can't go wrong with the LS3 vette and its price.

Nice vid! R8 doesn't stand a chance against the C6 Z06 though.

So why the LS3 coupe and not the Z06? Let's take a look at the head-to-head figures between the LS3, Z06 and R8:

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the Z06 would NOT be a good match up with the R8. Hell, we felt it would most likely take the R8 to the cleaners if pitted against one another.

The LS3 base coupe is a far more appropriate competitor based on specs. Additionally, considering that the LS3 is the entry level Corvette, we felt it would be fun to see how the bargain Vette would fare against the much more expensive Audi. And just to help the Vette out a bit, we asked General Motors to send us the LS3 WITH the Z51 performance package. The Super Lap battle was made about as fair as we could possibly make it."

 

^^^ the LS3 vette has a great powerplant but it lacks on the refinement of the Audi... the video shows that is not all about power..traction, braking,stability and other stuff are main factors as well.

theres a vid on youtube of a r8 and z06 racing...obviously the r8 didnt stand a chance. they are still so sexy tho.

btw, on ebay they are selling used r8's for 160k!!! i thought they were around 110k brand new...

 

The last I heard... the wait list for an R8 is 6 to 12 months long. Might explain why...

I don't know who the driver was, but if he's a newb, the R8 was probably easier for him to drive fast being that it's AWD.

Interestingly, when C&D ran at VIR, the LS2 'Vette was faster than the R8.

 

i wonder if the vette had the Z51 package..........anyone know?

I cant wait for the r8s to come out. Hopefully it can go toe to toe with the zo6, but I guess that is easier said than done
