If you want something that just feels fast and suits the racer image, by all means get a GSR... Nothing feels quite like a motor screaming at 8000RPM.

Just to let you know though, that car really isn't fast...

And don't ever put off maintanance, they always end up costing you more money down the road.

well i dont just want something that just "feels" fast( i want thing that IS fast ). i dont wanna look like a ricer, i want some thing that is fun to drive(fun bein the keyword). thats also why i was taking suggestions for other cars and people came up with the 240sx and the MR2. do you have any suggestions for a car that IS fast(not insanly just like "decent" if you will). and as for matienance, i didnt mean actually put it off. i meant if i have a car with a really good engine and tranny and just good overall then it has a less likely chance to break and require mantineace. dont get me wrong, if my car needed repairs i defiantly wouldnt put it off. BTW thanks to everyone for helping me out this far.

That ugly thing has near 50/50 weight distribution, 6 cylinders, LSD, IRS, potential for power, great handling right out of the box, and tons of options such as ABS, a huge sunroof, fog lights, sports heated seats, power everything...

And it can be made to look good.

Well, then again, appearance is strictly a personal preference.

Did I mention it's rear wheel drive?

Limited Slip Differential... Something that makes a world of difference when it comes to cornering fast.

Insurance would probably be relatively hefty on an SC300 as would maintenance given it's a tad older and it's a Lexus. I guess it'll all be dependant on what year. I'd be interested in doing up a manual tranny version, but they were only around 'til 95~ if I remember right. Either way, you have a good tuning basis in the 2JZGE off the bat...essentially almost a 2 door IS300.

Ok power from engine, handles alright, but the car is on the heavier side... Are they even available in manual transmission? I'd say it's a good cruiser but if you want something "fast" it'll take a lot of work.

I still say an E30 325iS, it'll smoke an SC300 all day long.

Integra
240sx
92 Miata
first gen MR2
Sentra SE-R

Are all good options. I would favor the 240SX or Miata both are great handling FR cars.

yea they were available in manual up to 97 i believe although in 97 there were only like 500 manual ones sold so those are extremely rare. either 97 or 95 i dont remember but yea they are available in manual

When you say fast do you mean as in 1/4 mile or all around performance? In other words does the car need to turn and handle?

you are not going to find a fast/reliable car for cheap, so just get something to start off with (maybe under 5k) and save your pennies and buy a REAL car later on.

basically im talkin about 1/4 mile. and to btrturbocharged, these are all REAL cars. people buy cheap cars and mod them all the time. i would consider a sc300 a real car considering you can get it up to over 300hp with just a simple bolt on turbo. i dont know how you reason that the cars mentioned in this thread are not real cars
